Summer vacation is almost over and I have a summer band program a week before. I get ready on a Monday morning and go off to the band hall at school. I find all my best friends there waiting for me. We all talk and bond over summer vacation and I break the news I'm stuck in a camper until January due to a dumb tree destroying my house. Emma and Libby felt bad but we talked about music after that and then my current crush walks over *thinks to self* "He is so hot!" "Hey Leah, Libby, and Emma what ya up to!?!?"
I glance over my shoulder at my friends wondering if i should let them do the talking but instead I blurt out, "Hey, ummm whats your name?" I obviously know his freaking name but I had to say something.
He replied in confusion, "I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself but I am Colin." I feel dumb now for asking such a retarded question. Colin continues, "Well I hope summer band is fun." He then walked away and my friends laugh. They thought it was funny that I asked such a question. We get on the playing field and get placed into formation. Our director guides us to our new steps. We change pictures with many struggles so he puts us in place and declares a break. Colin approaches and says, "I think it looks decent so far I guess it just takes practice." I smile and think what to say.
"Yeah practice makes perfect I guess." I actually said something useful good. I'm quite proud of myself for once. We finish learning some more steps then go inside the band hall for lunch. Oh my stars!!! I forgot my lunch. Great, I guess i can ask Libby's mom to make me something. Ok I'm saved by my friends mom. We eat our sandwiches and get in our seats for rehearsal. It went decent considering I recognized the rhythm from band camp earlier this summer. We look at each other in small glances. It was kinda cute. I leave around 3 p.m. and go home to relax and talk to my best friends Emma and Libby. I go to bed kinda early so I can look good the next morning for my giant crush. I wake up to a hot sunny day and see my friends in the band hall. I also see my crush and smile. I later see get on the marching field and feel my body telling me that it wants sleep not exercise. I power through and nearly trip over Colin because he stands behind me and he goes to catch me when...
