To my mother and father

Dear siblings

And four beautiful friends

Who willed this book

To become what it is.

Most importantly

To all the boys

Who broke my heart

And forced this book

To become what it is.

This one is for you.

You are holding my heart in your hands. This is a collection of poetry written over the course of nearly four years. It is divided into five chapters. Each chapter holds a special meaning. Some poems are long. Some short. Some rhyme. Some do not. Please be careful with them. I pray you cherish them as I do. And all I ask of you is that you please be patient. My writing has grown over time. I hope you notice that too.

Chapter One

The First

Lifeline

I need a lifeline

Please come and save me

The flames in my lungs

Will not let me breathe

And the roof's caving in

As I try to sleep

But my eyes won't close

The fire's too deep

The ashes in my veins

Are about to burst

They're going to fall

And the cinders are cursed

So send me a lifeline

To forget his name

Before my whole heart

Gets caught up in flames.

A Fire In My Heart

There's a fire in my heart

Your blood runs through my veins

There's a burning in my throat

From words leaking in the rain

Clouds are crying to themselves

In an act of desperate despair

And blood is falling from the sky

The smell of you is everywhere

Cold ice reminds me of your touch

But you are nowhere in sight

My hopeless beating heart

Has turned black within the night

I can feel you in my bones

And I crave the color of you

Your golden skin has a burning way

Of draining my crimson true

Your kiss is rather sour
