✒️ : Anything you write or get on your arm shows up on your soulmates arm
Tattoos may as well be a myth. In a world where it's incredibly easy to get one, who would even want to pay for the permanent thing? It's pretty much a mystical phenomenon when you would take the time to really stare into your arms, waiting, just to see something hinting at your supposed "soulmate". There's even already a lot of ways to take advantage of this- All of which made by those types of people who simply couldn't wait. Some wrote their names, some addresses, some even their phone numbers for some peculiar stranger to see. It was easy to say people easily grew to show no shame, no patience, to try and see how destiny will play out for soulmates. Humans were given the chance and they took it wholeheartedly. Well, maybe except for you.
For some reason, this blessing wasn't really much worth of your attention. You were never seen writing something on your arm knowing someone else would. Some friends asked about it once and you just shrugged. While you haven't really tried writing something before, you already knew your soulmate did. They usually wrote small statements and doodled some stuff on their arms which appeared to yours, and they perplexed you.
They were in slightly messy Japanese writing.
While it was fun to watch the lines drag on across your skin as a kid and a teen, as you grew up into a young adult it became less and less of an occurrence, completely stopping for quite a long while once 2011 hit. At first, you didn't even notice it. You'd ponder about it for a bit while you tried and scan your arm's reflection in the mirror, or while you took a dainty bath, and end up shrugging it off as your soulmate being busy with their life. It was a likely possibility that they were just focused on studies or work, after all, both you and your soulmate had to grow up eventually.
There you were. Sitting alone at a table, waiting for your light meal to be brought over. Your mind was yet again riddled with many thoughts. With a sharpie at hand, and a bottle of alcohol somewhere in your bag, you were starting to consider to end the silence between you and this fairly mysterious soulmate. What exactly could you write on there for your soulmate to see? Somehow there was unnecessary tension as you kept raking your brain for an answer. Maybe start with something simple?
"Hi."
It almost seemed like your heart won't stop pounding, probably until you got some sort of reply from whoever was on the receiving end. Those two letters, fresh in black ink, almost taunting you.
You almost jumped from your seat when some girl seemed to squeal from some table behind you not so long after. She was a brunette, a young woman wearing a fuchsia three-fourths shirt, who jumped up in her sudden glee. There were three men who were sharing the table with her, all of them relatively confused from her actions. The woman was looking down at her arm with a gleeful, yet timid grin.
Of course, you ended up staring. It was like something was telling you to try and see what that fuss was all about, or like there was this dull flicker of hope that sparked from inside of your chest-
She was just starting raise her head from looking down at her arm, curious and seeking, before she saw you.
