The Healing Bite

In my sleep I smelled smoke, I began to cough and slowly open my eyes only to see the scariest thing ever. My room was almost totally engulfed in smoke and I could see the orange and red flames by my door, at least I think they were flames. I attempted to scream but no sound came out. What was going on? What was happening? How is it just hours ago I was having a wonderful time with my family before my bedtime and know disaster has struck. I am only ten how am I going to get out of here as the door is blocked? I then hear my mom and dad screaming from their room so where is the fire originating from? I got up to see if could open my window which I couldn’t it always sticks I find my voice and start yelling help me till I couldn’t yell anymore due to the smoke. I was also starting to feel light headed I was sitting in the far corner of my room as far away from the fire as possible I decided to close my eyes for a second. I was so very tired it was getting so hot in here that was one my bedroom will know be where I die. It felt like my skin was melting that was the last thing I remember before everything else went black around me. Next thing I remember was waking in the hospital room screaming in pain.

　

I bolted straight up out of bed my roommate ran in to my room she was used to these nights by know the nightmares of that horrible night that changed my life so drastically. That was five years ago I am know fifteen living at a group home for orphans. That night the fire took my mom and my dad from me. Since my aunt and uncle didn’t want to take me in due to my scars and the intense skin grafts that I would need as well as having such a hideous child living with them would ruin there precious reputation I became a ward of the state and placed in this home been here ever since. I mean who wants to adopt such a charity case anyway.

“Hey Danny, another one of your nightmares.” Kendra said as she sat down on my bed and gave me hug. She was here when I got here and she was a year older than me and most people want to adopt a younger child so she been here with me I consider her my best friend.

“Yes it was the same dream of me waking to smoke and it was so frightening to relieve this every time I have this nightmare. Also every time I look in the mirror I relieve it when I see the scars.” I began to cry this was such torment to be cursed to live like I am living with these scars not just on the outside but the inside scars also the emotional damage that I suffered over the years, being bullied at school not wanted by my own family members it has not been a good life for me. The only bright spot is my bleak existence is Kendra.

　

　

　

　

Alonzo’s POV

　

I felt her pain again I been feeling this child’s torment for a couple of years know. I have been far to nervous to approach her as I am a vampire I do not wish to frighten her anymore than she already is so fragile emotionally. I feel how others have treated her and shunned her. She is the most beautiful creature I have ever seen in my three thousand years of existence. Yes I am a very old vampire also I very wise one at that. I own my own nightclub that is for my kind and of course the blood doners that sign a written consent form for us to feed on them, the same person can only be nourished twice a month as so they wont get addicted to our blood and the way it makes them feel and also for there safety so we don’t take to much blood from them I am very strict on this. I obey these laws for one I created these laws I am the king of vampires, but I also value our livelihood. I also truly appreciate the humans that volunteer to be of service to us all that are under contract with my club are very well taken care of and any vampire that is caught breaking these laws are immediately given the true death. I keep order with my kind so we and humans can live as equals and we are not feared. Like every kind my kind is no different we have our bad seeds that break laws I have my security details working round the clock to keep things in order. So I have been patient with Danny not to approach her to soon. I will be approaching her soon and I will be offering her my healing bite she will be a very good addition to my family. She is so kind and generous with others even though most are so cruel to her it takes every fiber of my being to not punish those who have tormented her over the years. Especially those who set her house on fire five years ago, her father was into some shady business deals that went bad and it cost him his life and the life of his wife who hadn’t told him she was pregnant again and also cost his daughter Danny with about eighty-five percent of her body burned with scars. I know I am probably sounding like a stalker right know back then I had sensed her and knew that when she got older that I would be offering her the healing bite she is worthy of it as I am to keep my race alive there are special humans men and women that once turned they can produce a vampire child that will grow and reach a certain age and then the freeze cycle begins where visually they look the same age. For example me I am three thousand years old but I only look around twenty-five. Some reach that age sooner and some reach it later keeps us looking as human as we can. We do not tell everyone who we are only those that are trust worthy. We also have vampires that have that ability to sense those who are worthy to be told. That is one of my abilities so that is how I know that Danny will be perfect for the healing bite as long as she agrees to it it is her choice not mine to make for her. The bite will heal her outward scars as well as begin to restore her emotionally that will take longer than the outward appearance her emotional scars are way deeper but with my healing bite will give her a chance to do that as well as more in life she will be able to live a more fulfilling life than the one she is living.

I am almost certain that she will agree I am thinking that she will want to take Kendra away from the group home also. That is also what I have been doing these past two years I have been studying her friend to see how trust worthy she is I will not be turning her but she may be one of the rare humans that will know of our kind I hope so for Danny’s sake she is very attached to the girl who has been like a sister to her for the past five years would be a shame to separate them so until I am totally sure of Kendra I will not approach my little princess. I was in my home across town from the group home I entered Danny’s mind and I gasped she had one of her horrible nightmares tonight Kendra was singing to her to get her to go back asleep lovely voice that girl has a major talent maybe I will have her sing in my night club once all of the details are worked out with the both of them……..

It was close to sunrise no we are not trapped by the sun that is a fiction seeing as I run a nightclub my hours are like that I sleep during the day and up most of the night. One of my favorite things to do is take walks in the sunlight it is relaxing to me and also so funny when a new human finds out that I am a vampire and they try to stop me from going into a sun lit room or outside in the sun for fear of me bursting into a fireball right in front of them. Hollywood movies writers, most do not know true signs of a vampire if it bit them on the butt I do not believe they have ever come in contact of one maybe one day I will pay one a visit. I laugh to myself I do have a sence of humor.

I looked at the time and decided to go crawl in bed had a busy night tonight I took the stairs up to my massive bedroom and dropped my bath robe and crawled into my silk sheets and was asleep in minutes….
