My Wandering Eyes and Jonah

From Cyrus's point of view:

Buffy and I are sitting at in a booth at the spoon. The same booth we were sitting at when I told her I liked Jonah beck. Well okay I didn't tell her. She had to guess, but it's so hard to say it. 

Jonah is sitting a few booths away from us. I'm facing him so I keep glancing over. I hope it's not too obvious.

I'm looking over at Jonah and resting my face on my hand.

"Hello. Earth to cyborg." It's Buffy. She's waving her hand in front of my face.

"Hey only Jonah calls me that." I snap at her. She gives me a look. "Sorry I was just a little distracted."

"A little?" She's not amused.

"Okay, quite a lot actually." I say.

"That's more like it." She says.

I glance overact Jonah again. I actually haven't really stopped looking at him. "I wonder what Jonah is thinking right now?" I say aloud.

"Well," starts Buffy "What are you thinking?"

"Where do I even start. I really... care about Iris... But." I say unsure of what to tell Buffy next.

"But then there's him." She says nodding in his direction."

"Right. Then there's him. And I really like him." It's really sad to admit it. It really was bad timing, now who am I going to visit museums with? I'm not sure what to do. I really like being around Iris, just not in that way. "Buffy, what should I do?"

"I think your wandering eyes already have the answer."
Buffy's right. My wandering eyes want what they see. And what they see right now is Jonah beck......... walking to our booth! I scramble to fix my hair and rub the mark off face where my hand was for twenty minutes.

Buffy notices me not looking so relaxed anymore and getting flustered suddenly. "He's walking over here isn't he?" She asks.

"Quick, does my hair look okay?!" I say.

"Well that answers my question. And aren't we the 'good hair crew' your hair always looks good." Buffy says.

I do the bro nod but I think I overdo it because Buffy laughs at me."This'll be good." Buffy scoffs.

"Hey! Cyrus, Buffy. Two of my favorite people from the good hair crew!" Jonah says and Buffy gives me a 'see I told you your hair looked fine' look.

"Mind if I sit down?" He asks.

"Sure, Jonah." I scoot over in the seat but he still sits next to Buffy. Aw poo I really wanted to sit next to Jonah Beck.

There's a little bit of an awkward silence and I try my hardest ever to not stare at his face now.
"So, what were you guys talking about?" He asks.

Buffy and I look at each other in panic. "Uhh." We say.

"How... Cute you and Andi are!" She gives a nervous, fake laugh.

"Yeah... so cute!" I say, even faker. Buffy just looks at me and offers a half smile full of pity.

"Oh... Where is Andi? I've been trying to text her but she hasn't been answering." He wonders.

"She was supposed to be here with us but she said her and Bex were visiting Bowie at the nursery and picking up new flowers for Celia." Buffy answers.

"Oh. Cool." He says. "Well I think I'm gonna go. My uh mom wanted me home soon. Oh Cyrus." He starts to say.

"Yeah!" I'm a little jumpy with my reply. A little too jumpy.

"Uh I'll just text you." He says looking at me and then to Buffy. "It's important. Later Buffy! See ya cyborg!"

"Later jo bro!" I say and he gives me a fist bump. I try and not mess it up this time. I let out a sigh of relief and slouch down into the booth.

"Well that was weird." Buffy points out. Why was it weird? Was I being weird?

"What was weird? Me?! Tell me I wasn't weird I was trying my very hardest to be cool!" I really was trying to be cool even though on the inside I was very not cool.

"Cyrus! You didn't seem nervous." She says confidently so I believe her.

"Oh good." Another sigh of relief.

"Jonah seemed nervous. To talk to us? I wonder what's going on." She asks.

"That's ridiculous, Jonah is never nervous talking to us. He's never even nervous talking to Andi. That boy is invincible he never gets nervous." I say confidently. But the more I thought about it, Jonah did seem different than usual. It's hard to believe Buffy noticed before I did. He seemed nervous. But about what?
