I stare into the blue sky, the clouds waving freely down at me, and the sun blinking brightly. 'Lucky' I think.'They seem so free and get to see the whole world anytime they want'. Jealousy overcomes me as I continue to examine my history notes in my tiny, 'cell like' room. There is nothing more that I want but to travel the world and discover its secrets. But, my mother holds me back from liberty and freedom. She has always been overly protective of me since I could remember. She tells me that my father was in a car accident, and doesn't want me to be harmed from the lurking dangers outside my door. But, it has been 16 years and it is starting to get on my nerves. However, I'm greatful that my mom permits me to be outside for 15 minutes everyday. '5 more minutes' I think to myself 'then I can meet the sun'. These thoughts excite me and I am thrilled and curious about what or who I will meet today. Suddenly, my room door swings open and my mother appears at the entrance. She grins and hands me a salami sandwich with a glass of water. "So, today let's head down to the market today to pick up some veggies" she says. I nod in agreement as I chew my crispy sandwich. My mother frowns, "Oh Kacey, I'm sorry you have to always be in the house, I just"-"wanna keep me safe" I finish, "I know". My mother gives me a brilliant smile and grabs my hand. "Let's go now" ,remarks my mother, "let's get some air"! "Okay" I reply in just as much enthusiasm, "let's go"!
