Christmas

Snow is my favourite thing.
The cold hitting your glossy lips.
Frosty mornings shining in the dark.
The stars glistening upon the lakes, reflecting your dreams.
Yes, reflecting your dreams.
Your dreams of the perfect Christmas.
Your dreams of seeing that sister sitting by the tree.
Getting ready to hand you the present of love.
The love you haven't received in five years.
The love that will all be held in one hug.
The hug that gathers all the pain, and throws it in the trash.
The hug that will fill the hole in your heart.
Yes, your heart.
Your heart that has felt empty ever sense she left.
The day she left will be forgotten.
The dreams of the perfect Christmas.
The dreams of seeing your whole family arounf your parents bed for the first time in seven years.
Seven years is along time.
Its along time to feel hurt.
To feel forgotten.
It's a very long time.
If I could, I would read this aloud.
I would scream this to the whole world.
My feelings are locked up in a dark prison cell. Only I hold the key. I don't think I can let the key go.
So these words are kept hidden in poems that shake, that tremble, that crack like cliffs by the sea side.
I don't think these dreams will happen.
Christmas is my favourite time of year.
I get to hold the ones I love in hugs that push away the cold on a winters night.
I get to take a walk in the dark at 4:30pm.
I get to stair at the stars that hold all the lost people.
Yes, the lost ones.
The others that gave up without finding out what was coming next.
That's where they sleep. That's where they live.
No one goes forgotten.
Christmas is a time of giving. It's taking all the love you never received just to hand it to someone else.
Searching for all that love from the bottom of your pockets, to hand a gift to someone they'll treasure for their life.
Christmas is love. It's friendship within a couple of days.
Its sitting by the three on a Christmas morning and getting so excited by a gift that your hands tremble whole tearing the Christmas paper.
So, no matter how bad it gets. No matter how much pain you feel, Christmas is something to look forward for.
Christmas is believing.
