A/N: Story includes a lot of Australian words. I've gotten comments where people who aren't from Australia are confused on what some words are. Just to clear things up, thongs are what American's call flip flops. No, it does not mean G-string. Also December-February is when we have summer, and when I say that it's "30 degrees" I don't mean Fahrenheit. We measure temperature in Celsius and 30 degrees is hot. Trackies or Tracksuit pants are sweatpants. I do not live in Phillip island but I've been there many times in my life.

01 » THE BEGINNING

A few months after I graduated from high school, I managed to convince my parents to allow me to move out from home so I could face the passage to adulthood earlier than they would have wanted to. At first, they weren't so sure on how eager I was to move out of home, but they soon gave up on my constant begging and promises and helped me find a house that would be far but close enough to home for the both of them.

After six months, I finally moved house. I packed my belongings into multiple boxes and stacked them up in the corners of my room. When the day came, I spent the morning packing boxes into the back of my car while my father helped moving the furniture into the moving van.

The time we'd finished packing, my parents were starting to get more and more nervous and teary. I had to fight back the tears also, before I pulled them into my arms. We mumbled our goodbyes until we all pulled apart and I crossed to my younger brother, Dustin, before we fell into each others arms. I knew one thing, though I'd come back to visit them, I'd still miss all of them. Though my brother had been a pain since he was 2, I'd still miss him.

I slid into the seat of my car, and plugged the key into the ignition. The car roared to life and I pulled my car door closed before I waved to my family. I knew they were going to more than likely grief for a while, but I promised I would call them when I arrived to the new house.

Phillip island had always been a place my family and I would go for holidays but I had admired the place since I was a kid and had dreams that maybe I would end up living there oneday. So when driving over the bridge, I felt excited that the dream had come true.

Dreams to me never came true, so for once that one came true I felt giddy and bubbly inside. Outside, it was a warm summer day, only January of the new year. People walked by wearing shorts and short sleeved t-shirts.

I passed groups of people, shops and the chocolate factory on the way there and by the time I drove down the street of my new home I felt butterflies swarming inside

I pulled into the driveway, before pulling the gear into park and turning the key before pulling it out of the ignition. For once in my life I felt pleased of the way I had left 'the nest' and found my home and entrance into the adulthood.
