I didn't know how far we ran. We turned several times and I had lost track. I had to stop after ten minutes or so. My lungs were about to burst. I leaned against the brick wall trying to catch my breath.

"We're almost there." He said, "You can rest then."

Without another second to lose, we raced down the wet mucky pathway. There were rows of small houses at the opening. He took my hand and led me into a plain looking brown one. He jammed the key into the hole shaking it open.

"Get in, get in!" He said and closed the door behind him.

He peered out the window checking if anyone saw us.

"Who are you?" I asked. My defence was still up. I had learned the hard way of not to trust others easily.

It was a week ago. I had stumbled my way into someone's yard. They took me inside and offered me food and drinks. Little did I know when the wife was offering me things the husband gave a call to the police. They arrived within fifteen minutes. I was asked to cooperate, but I didn't want to. I did manage to escape, but I got many scars on myself to prove what kind of hell I went through.

"Relax," His voice was soothing. "I'm not going to hurt you."

"That's what they all say." I didn't relax a bit. "They're all liars!"

"If I wanted to hurt you, I could have given you to the officials." He said his eyes tired, "I want to help you."

"Why?" I questioned, "Why would you want to help something like me? For all you know I might kill you in the middle on the night."

"I don't see that in your eyes." He smiled. "I'm Ethan, Ethan Valentine. What's your name?"

"Back in my planet, I'm called Sapphire Sage Amber." I relaxed a little bit, but still kept a sharp eye him.

He sighed. "Sapphire, I understand you. You have all the reasons to hate humans, and I don't expect you to like me. I just want you to know I'm here to help."

I didn't say anything.

"Are you hungry?" He asked getting up. "I can get you something."

When I didn't respond, he went into the kitchen. A minute later he came back with a pack of cookies.

"I don't know what uh what you eat, so I hope this is okay." He handed it to me.

I snatched it from his hands.

"It's unopened, I promise." He said.

"You must be tired. Do you want to sleep?" He asked kindly.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked. "I'm not like you. I'm different, and I could be dangerous."

"Do you really want to know why I'm helping you?" His dark eyes grew sad. "I'm an orphan. My parents both died when I was the age of ten. I was always treated different. It's wasn't pity. I became an outcast. Every minute spent in school was hell." He sighed.

"I'm sorry." I mumbled quietly.

He looked at me. "Don't be. It's not your fault things happen. I guess that why I want to help those that are different, and make them feel better." He smiled at me. What he said made me felt sad. If he was really trying to help me, I shouldn't have been so harsh on him.

No! You can't think like that! Humans are good at acting and playing their emotions. Don't fall for it so easily!

"It's going to take some time for you to trust me," Ethan said, "But I mean no harm."

Realising I had no other choice, I slowly nodded.

"Are you tired?" He asked.

I continued to nod.

"As you can see, the place is pretty small, so I only got one bedroom. You can sleep in it. I'll rest on the couch."

I followed Ethan as he led me into the bedroom. It was a square room with walls painted the colour of a forest; emerald green. There was a large bed in the middle of the messy room. Papers were scattered everywhere. He quickly picked a couple pieces up and shoved it into his desk.

"Have some rest." He said. "I promise nothing horrible will be done to you while you sleep."

Ethan left, shutting me the room. I climbed on the bed. As much as the truth hurts; I was insanely tired. The last time I actually rested was at least three days ago. I had been running. Both my legs were sore and aching. I laid my head down on the pillow.

That boys eyes; they were the colour of the twilight back at Verveilzion. That was my last thought before my eyes closed.
