Melody's POV

"Melody"! "Mel where are you". The person kept repeating themselves, but i couldn't find enough willpower in me to respond.

Trying to gather my thoughts together once again, I picked up my sheet music and directed my attention back towards the piano.

'I cant play', I continued to think to myself.

Dragging my fingers along the 88 keys of the board, my heart felt emptier than it has before.

"MEL"! The voice shouted once again from down the hall.

Looking up from the keyboard, i was now face to face with my bestfriend. Sophia.

"I've been looking all over for you. Why are you in here"? She questioned.

She couldn't know i was trying to play again, because she'd try forcing the music out of me. Although there is no longer any music inside.

Trying to come up with an excuse, I stood up and smiled. "Just looking over old music mom had left for me before she past. That's all".

Sophia nodded her head understandingly and laid her hand on my shoulder, trying to comfort me in any way that she could.

"I know what'll make you feel better". My head perked up as she continued.

"How about you come on a double date with me? Kat is making me go with her and Zach to meet one of their friends, but I don't want to be alone if things don't end up working out".

'of course. Another favor', i thought to myself.

I couldn't ever say no to Sophia, considering how much her and her family have done for me since my mom has died. She was always there to lend a hand whenever i needed it. I was forever grateful.

"I'll tag along, I guess". I responded with a shrug of the shoulders.

She cheered as she tug against my wrist, leading me out into the hallway and towards the exit of our school where we met with Kat and her boyfriend Zachary.

"Hey loves", They greeted in unison, enveloping the both of us into friendly hugs.

"Are you guys ready to go"? Zach asked, eager to see his friend.

I shook my head, agreeing with everyone even though i was lying through my teeth. I would much rather stay in my music room, with my piano, going over sheet music that I cant't even play, instead of socializing with people who could really give less a shit about me.

I was never too keen with the idea of meeting new people. I had Kat and Sophia, now with the addition of Zach i don't feel as if i need to bother with anyone new really.

I was happy.

Or was I?

"Guys i think I'll just meet you there".

"Okay Mel, we're all going to meet at Kennedy Park in an hour. Be careful". Kat responded, latching herself onto Zach's arm as they walked away.

I sighed to myself and decided to take a shortcut to the park, not really wanting to talk to anyone.

I passed by buildings and went through some alleys before i was finally met with the greenest grass i have come to know, and the smell of the arrangement of flowers from the ground and the ones hanging along the trees above.

I smiled to myself, taking the whole scenery in and just letting it be, before i was interrupted by the sound of a flute.

It was beautiful, played with such grace. Easily, i made out the song that was being played. One of Beethoven's sonata's.

Captivated by the sound of the music, I followed wherever the sound would lead me.

As I walked closer and closer the music began to become louder.

Standing there on the platform to Kennedy Park was a boy, about my age with dark brown hair held together by gel and the most beautiful blue eyes i have ever seen.

Not wanting to disrupt his playing, I stood there. Continuing to be captivated by the sound that was coming out of the boy's flute. There was no doubt that he was amazing.

With his eyes closed and heart open, he began another one of Beethoven's pieces.

Never hearing this be played on a flute, I decided to pull out my phone and record him.

Unzipping the pocket of my jacket, I slid my phone out and went directly to the camera button. Pressing on record, i held my phone up to eye level and pressed the red button in the middle.

As it recorded, my phone went off with a flash indicating that i took a picture instead.

The boy then stopped playing and locked eyes with me. His blue ones piercing into my green ones.

He jumped down from the platform with a quizzical look on his face. Furrowing his eyebrows and coming close to me, he snatched my phone out of my hand.

"Do you think that this is fucking okay"? He snapped. And with every word i could feel my heart pound against my rib cage.

"You do know that it's considered a felony to take pictures of a person without their consent, right"?

I shook as his words dug deep into my skin. Not knowing what to say or how to react, my body just starting shaking.

He scoffed, peering down at the phone to get a better look at the picture that was taken.

"At least I look good, but what were you going to do with that picture to begin with? Are you some kind of pervert"? He questioned.

Feeling enough courage in me to finally talk back, I laughed shaking my head.

"No i swear it wasnt in my intentions to take a photo of you. I was actually trying to take a picture of the tree behind you, the cherry blossoms looked stunning. You were just in the way and looked really into what you were playing, so i didn't want to disrupt you".

Not believing a single word i said, the boy raised a questioning brow and handed back my phone.

"Well, just don't do it a-"

"HEY!" I could hear a voice in the distance.

As it got closer, Zach was in plain sight. Running to where the boy and i were standing.

Opening his arms, the boy enveloped Zach into a bone crushing hug.

"Mel, this is Daniel. Daniel Seavey".
