It was horrible. Reckless. Maybe even melancholic. They were running in the streets, afraid their children would be taken by the hands of the devils. Everyone was in a state of panick, the streets were filled with gory pools of blood, and people stepped on it like it was nothing. How have they reached this extent of misery? When did humans become such beasts? Since when did the difference between colour of skins matter that much?

And amidst all that horror, was a pure-hearted little girl. That knew no violence or terror, she just saw the good in the world. But it was hard for her to imagine butterflies and rainbows at that time. People were killing each other, children were slaughtered infront of their parents. Sometimes even parents killing their own daughters. It was a horrible time indeed. White people, running after black people. What has started that war? Why do we have to implant such horrid memories inside little childrens' minds?

The aftermath was horrible. Malinda was one of the few people that survived this war. Majority of the city were white people, although the city was originally a black country. Malinda's parents were dead. She was left alone in the streets, starving and thirsty for kindness and care. No one showed sympothy to her. It was like she was living in a paper town. People with hearts of rock; no feelings, no love, no emotion. Robots walking. Until one day, Malinda realised that there are some good peope left in this world. A white couple decided to adopt Malinda. The couple were not able to have a child of their own, but they treated Malinda as their child. And she treated them as they were her real parents too, although she was still in terrible pain since her parents' death.

"Hmm I miss the word mum , I haven't said that word in a while. Can I call you mum?" Malinda said as her face blushed.
"Of course dear, you can call me whatever you want to! I won't be sad even if you call me dad! Everything that comes out of your mouth Malinda makes me happy." Her mother, Jane, said as tears ran down her cheeks like the Mississippi river.

Some how, these words stuck in Malinda's mind. At that moment, she noticed how she could make a difference in this world. She knew that if she went out, and faced the world, she would make the world a much better place.
