"It happened to everyone. Everyone, except me."
   10 Minutes Earlier
Me and my prom date Jillian pulled up to the school at about 6:30 PM. It was already dark, but no flashlight was needed, as the school had already lit up the area. We pulled up in my old 1972 Chevy, and got out. We walked towards the entrance and I opened and held the door open for her. She walked past me, and I went in after her. We had already paid for our prom tickets, so there was no need to buy anymore for the dance. Mrs. Hunt greeted her and I at the stairs that led up to the cafeteria, where the dance was at, and we headed up to the cafeteria.
"The voices, only I could hear, but controlled the others"
   5 Minutes earlier
"Well, shall we dance, or what." Jillian asked, smiling. I nodded. "Sure, let me just run to the bathroom real quick." I said. She nodded, and I went. The music was very loud. I was really excited that I even had a date to this dance. I had liked Jillian for a long time, and I could tell that she liked me, but I'm very shy. I thought for sure, even though I knew she liked me, that she'd reject me to the dance, but I was wrong. Anyway, the only reason I came into the bathroom, was because I had to splash some cold water on me, I was burning up. I also decided to wash some water drops down my ear to help me hear better. That loud music really plugged my ears up, but now I could hear just fine, and I opened the door, and headed to the dance floor.
"They were here, but they weren't here"
    30 Seconds earlier
I was walking through the crowd of people, trying to look for Jillian. The music was still loud, but it wasn't bothering me at all. I looked to my left, and there was Jillian, smiling at me. So I smiled and walked over to her. She held out her hand, "are you ready to da..." she said, but didn't complete "dance", instead, she stayed frozen, with a blank look on her face. Suddenly, I heard a faint mumbling noise. The noise was coming from the speakers playing the music. There was loud rock and roll music, but also, a very faint voice speaking. A voice that could only be heard of ears were clear, like mine. I could hear the voice saying: "you are mine now" "you are evil" "go crazy" "do murder, and harm them" "make it all deserted" "you can feel yourself becoming murderous"
It happens to everyone. Everyone except me. The voices, only I could hear, but controlled the others. They were here, but they weren't here. They....were....HYPNOTIZED.
Jillian's eyes went big, her fists tightened, and her mouth began to twitch. And then she ran towards me. She clocked me hard in my face, and almost knocked me out, but I didn't fall. But, everyone else began to beat each other up. One grabbed a chair and bashed another with it, busting their head open. The cop was also affected, and he grabbed his gun and shot in random spots. On bullet struck Jillian in the head. I knew that the song was controlling everyone, but me. Why me? I had to run, and so I did. I ran, and I shoved Mrs. Hunt down the stairs, as she reached for my neck to strangle me. I ran out the exit and to my Chevy. I sped home, and didn't look back. But, I heard a huge explosion behind me, and I knew the building had exploded. But, I still didn't know why everyone else was being controlled but me.
Now, I heard something behind me, in the back seat. There was someone, who wasn't speaking, but they held a gun to my head, and I screamed, and suddenly, the birds were flying away after a huge startle.
