"he bought me an electric guitar, a blue one, so we could jam out on our favorite songs and pretended like we're the biggest band in the world,"

"but one day, i stopped receiving mixtapes from him and i stopped playing the electric guitar he gave me since he got in a car accident, my mom married another man and he burned all of the mixtapes my dad gave me because he hates it when i still talk about him even when he's not around anymore, it hurt me because that's the only memory i had of my dad and made me feel like i was close to him, but my step dad burned all of it," finn paused and sniffed, letting his tears fall while millie gave him a pity look.

"then one day, i was cleaning my room and i saw a mixtape under my bed and it's titled mixtape 1, it was the first mixtape that dad gave to me, with buddy holly by weezer in it,"

"so i kept it, i brought the mixtape everywhere with me so i can still feel him somehow, i know that sounds crazy but-" millie cut her off by saying, "no, no finn. it's not stupid, don't ever, ever, think that missing your dad is stupid," she put her hand on top of his and gave him a consoling smile.

"ever since that i just felt so alone, like i had no hope. like, every person who comes in my life and makes me feel loved will eventually leave me one day, that's why i push people away," finn added, his blanket full of teardrops now.

"you still have one more question to answer,"

"go on," millie asked.

"why are you here?" he asked. millie bit her lip nervously and played with her hands, "leukemia,"

that made him look up at her. "what about you?" she asked as well.

"osteosarcoma or bone cancer,"

"i was playing basketball at school just last year and i tripped. i thought i just broke my leg but my leg started to blow up like a balloon and one day there were tumors spreading and growing inside my bones and now i'm here with you," when he looked at her eyes, he noticed that she was in the urge to cry, so he thought of something.

"hey, wanna know a secret?" he asked. millie was confused as to where the conversation was going but nodded regardless.

"the reason why i played basketball was because of troy bolton from high school musical,"

millie widened her eyes and looked at finn up and down, "holy shit, really?! troy bolton was my childhood!"

"yes, believe it or not it's true. i've never told anyone about that secret so if you do tell anyone, i'll tell everyone your middle name's bobby,"

"so we're blackmailing each other now?" both of them chuckled.

"thanks for trusting me with your biggest secret," millie giggled, finn couldn't help but crack a smile at the sound.

millie looked at the blanket on top of him in confusion then looked back at him, "wait, if they removed a part of your body where the tumors are located so it can prevent from spreading throughout the rest of your body, then why are you still here?"

finn hesitated for a second but gave in, "my bone tumors are malignant, it means the tumors may have already spread throughout my body,"

millie couldn't help but shed a tear. "why do these things have to happen. . .to us? what did we even do?"

finn asked himself the same question, "i don't know. but it's your choice if you count the days before your ending or to make them count,"

millie sniffed, "finn, you are not ending," she said while looking directly at his eyes.

"how do you know that?"

"i just. . .know,"

both of them just stared at a distance, their minds wandering everywhere. "brown, can i dodge one more question?" she looked at him in confusion but nodded.

he thought for a moment.

"why do i get this feeling that you're about to mess up my entire life?"

millie let out a smile, "i'm not going to mess it up,"

finn raised an eyebrow, "then what will you do?"

"fix it,"
