Today was to be a day like any other. At least that's what Steven thought when he lifted his head off of its comfortable resting place of a pillow. His duvet cocooned him like an unwavering embrace from a star crossed lover. This lover was certainly one with which Steven did not wish to part, though he supposed it was necessary. His alarm brought him back to reality as it continued it's efforts to get the young lad to school on time.
Steven pulled on the nearest cloths in his room without rhyme or reason, not nearly motivated enough to put any actual effort into his style choices. "At least I don't smell too much like old socks." he sighed. This day was truly going to be filled with pain and suffering. He would surely be targeted as the laughing stock of the day with his negative attitude.
Then a spark of glistening golden brightness shot through the oppressive cloud that ware Steven's thoughts. Last night his family had eaten those savory chunks of bliss that could only be procured through about ten minutes waiting in line at a fast food restaurant. Henry knew that this was a bit of an over dramatic view of his journeys but to him any time spent away from his meaty providers of joy felt like eons.
To prevent, as his mother put it, "Too much of a good thing" Henry was only allowed to taste the chickeny hunks of pure bliss once a month. Last night had been that beautiful time when he and his true love were reunited. He had consumed all but one of the nuggets in one fell swoop. "Why must I be such of a nugget glutton." Steven groaned.
The boy trekked downstairs now dressed and ready to continue his quest to the fridge. Steven grasped the stainless steel of the refrigerator door handle and pulled the door open with the mighty strength of one teenage boy. "What the dickens!" Steven roared, seeing the platter that had previously held the last of his nuggets bare. He'd been Hoodwinked.
"The game is up." a tired voice spoke " I couldn't allow you to eat me out of house and home Steven." the boy's mother whispered from around the corner after hearing her son's despairing cry to the heavens.
"What fools these mortals be!" Steven shouted to no one in particular. " That nugget was the apple of my eye! I can't stand being in the presence of such a traitor. I'm going to school." The young man stormed off in typical angry teen fashion and slammed the front door behind him.
"Good riddance" Steven's mother sighed. Of all the things her son could be irrevocably in love with, he had to chose chicken nuggets. "This is the end of all this nugget fueled turmoil." The woman said in a grim voice as she stared at the trashcan. The resting place of the last nugget.
