Chapter 10: phone

There hanging from his neck was the necklace I gave him...

For some reason, It felted as if there were butterflies we're in my stomach. Why am I feeling like this? He's just wearing the necklace I got him, no big deal.

Flames hand waves in front of my face, "hellooo! Earth to Shadow!"

I snap out of my thoughts.

"you ok?"

"y-yeah. I was just saw that you were wearing the necklace I gave you..."

"huh? Oh yeah! I really liked it. You have great taste in jewellery." he smiled. I blush. Why do I keep blushing?!?! It's not like he's confessing to me or anything. Jeez, I hate emotions sometimes.

"w-we better clean this up, I will pay for new glasses." I start picking up some of the glass, being careful not to cut myself.

Flame helps me, "you don't have to pay, it's fine, it won't even cost that much."

"but-" I'm cut off by flame, "no buts! You're not paying."

I smile to myself, he's so kind.

Electra knocks softly on the kitchen door, then slowly opens it. "everything ok?" she asked in her gentle voice.

"Yeah just dropped the glasses. Electra could you get some drinks for everyone? shadow could you help her? Frost will help clear this up with me, right Frost?"

"yeah, let the men do the dangerous job. Don't want you girlies cutting yourself on glass now" he smirked as he said this.

Me and Electra got the drinks while the boys cleaned up the mess.

It got to about 10 and I said goodbye and left.

~two days later~

I woke up at about mid-day.

I got dressed and did the rest of my morning routine that I missed because I slept in. I opened the door to go do some garden, then I noticed a letter in my letter box. I've never had letter before. Actually, I wouldn't really call it a letter as it was just a folded piece of paper, more like a note.

I unfolded the note, I page was filled with messy hand writing. It said:

Shadow,

I stopped by before school to tell you that we should hang out again, me, you, Electra and Frost. Here's my number

Text me so I have your number to. I would of asked you face to face but didn't want to wake you.

P.S. Electra told me to give you the application form for our school. She said to just fill it out and next time we see you we will give it in to our head teacher.

The application was attached to the note. Maybe I should join the school...

I go inside and fill out the application straight away, then go to do the gardening and the rest of the things I need to get down today. It got to about 5pm and I decided to text Flame, but then I realised something.... I don't have a phone!

I rushed out the house to the market and looked for a phone store. Shops were starting to close. I finally found a phone shop but the man was already locking up. I called out for him to wait. He looked at me.

"please... Could I..... Just buy a.... Phone before you.... Lock... Up?" I was trying to catch my breath as I said it.

"sorry kid, I have to get somewhere." he replied.

"please! I will be quick. I really need a phone." I beg him.

He sighs, "ok, come on then." he unlocks the shop and we step inside. I ask the man for the best phone he has and he hands me a box, "that will be £345" he said.

WHAT?!?! THAT MUCH?!?! Oh god! I just hand him the money and thank him.

When I got home I instantly started to set up my new phone. Once I figured the basics out I text Flame.He replied 5mins later.

~text message~

Shadow: hey Flame. It's shadow. Got your note and filled the application form. :)

Flame: Hey! That's great! Should I get it tomorrow morning? That way you might be able to join next week. We could go and get everything you need for school on the weekend if you want. XD

Shadow: I will leave it in the letter box in case I'm not awake. That sounds like fun, just so long as you're free on the weekend.

Flame: awesome! I told Electra and Frost. Both so happy. Gave them your number. Talk tomorrow, need to do some homework then sleep. Night x

Shadow: great. Talk tomorrow. Night x

~end of text message~

He put an X....

I might not be up to date with technology and everything BUT I know what x means! It means a kiss!!! Ok, maybe I'm over reacting. He probably doesn't even mean it like that. He probably sends it to Electra as well. A friendly thing.

My phone makes a sound which stops my thoughts. It was Electra.

~text message~

Electra: HEY! Heard you filled application out! Can't wait till you join. We should all meet up on weekend.

Shadow: hey! Sounds great can't wait.

~end of text message~

I think I got another message from her but I was so tired that I fell asleep on the sofa.
