>> Just imagine the above has yellow eyes instead, and you have Caleb. At least, human Caleb.
Rich, leafy smells filled my dampened nose, the wind pressed hard against my face, brushing my long strands of black fur back softly. My paws kneaded into the moist blades of grass beneath them. Just beyond the bark, those thick brown trees, was a human city. A world completely separate from my own. Being a werewolf means you swear to keep yourself secret, that's my most important job right now. My bright golden orbs peered over at the towering grey buildings. Everything is so surreal. I've seen humans stumble into our woods, and we've taken care of them, but this is the first time I'll be encountering them in a neutral situation.
I breathed in the dampened cold air through my nose, and closed my eyes slowly. I have to cross this city if I'm ever to find a mate by spring. I want to have my own family, my own home. With a determined glint in my eyes, I shifted into my human form. My legs grew longer, as I stood up on my hind quarters and my fur slunk back into my pale layers of skin. It hurts to shift at a young age, the throbbing is similar to that of a graze, and it's all over. Like losing a layer of skin. I flinched as the transformation was complete, my now human, yet still bright gold, eyes glancing down to my naked four-fingered palms.
My father can shift at a moments notice, hopefully I can live up to his legacy. My eyes peered over yonder once more, and then back down at my pale, and naked body. I took another timid step forward when my eyes noticed something, a human!
She was clearly female, judging by her scent. She was wearing a length of cloth, wrapped around her body tightly. In her hand, she held a long bag, and draped over that bag was a large piece of fur, but it smelt fake. How strange, it must be uncomfortable. I tipped my head to the side slightly, and my yellow eyes met with her wide, grey ones. She then screeched out the word "Pervert" before running out of my sight, with her bag flying behind her, the fabric drifting to the floor gently. I couldn't help but frown a little at her funny reaction.
While cautious all the same, I walked over to the fabric and picked it up. A lot of the humans that came to our woods wore these, their arms go in the holes and... I fixed the coat around my figure and looked at my now protected arms. This coat is long and goes past the knees, like that woman's dress. Zipping it up, just like they did, I walked further down the street. Every large orb of light absorbed my attention, it was hard to focus on the task at hand. As I came to a bend, I noticed that, dozens of humans paced up and down the street. It was more busy here. My yellow eyes looked around and my nose sucked in all the various scents, but one scent stood out.
The strong aroma of roses, combined with lavender and grass, it was beautiful and natural. My pupils dilated as I looked around for the source of the smell, pushing past a few humans. I noticed a door, with a little sign reading 'Night bar - Open' dangling from the handle, and swaying softly. "It definitely comes from here..." I whispered to myself, in a cool tone. Nervously, I opened the door, my head low submissively as I stepped inside. It's unusual for a werewolf to enter someone else's territory, let alone a juvenile. With my lower body bare, and feet also bare, I walked past the entrance area and peered inside the warmly lit pub.
Everything was wooden, and little tables were sprinkled generously around. Near the back, was a bar table with multiple kegs and bottles of beverages, and a slot machine leaning close by. While trying to not get distracted by the oldie music, I walked over to the bar and noticed a little glass bottle, with two burning sticks peeking out of it's neck. "This is it, the scent!" I gasped, glaring at it in confusion. So it wasn't a mate. "Mate?" A gruff voice spoke, from behind me, making me turn around anxiously. Thinking out loud, crap.
My golden eyes peeked up at the tall, mature male. He had a stubbly chin and thick locks of brown hair, that didn't creep past his ears, unlike mine that was shoulder length and messy, his was well styled. His eyes were a soft grey colour, but his expression was anything but soft as he smirked down at me. "Uh..." I mumbled, fiddling with my thumbs and looking away. "What's up?" I asked, sheepishly. "So, the scent lured you in? You rely on your nose a lot more than normal customers," Her sneered, walking around and picking up a glass. "Haha, I know right?" I laughed it off as the man poured a yellow liquid into the glass from the keg behind him.
He handed it to me and I stared at the cup, and back to him. "It's on me, you're the first customer I've had in weeks," He smiled to me. I grinned back and lifted the glass to my lips carefully, I'm not used to this. Sticking my tongue out, I went to lap at the liquid and noticed the man chuckle, so I placed the cup down and glared at him. "Whut?!" I snapped. "You aren't very good at hiding it, huh, puppy?" He smiled seductively at me, leaning on the counter. My cheeks lit up. "P-Pu-Puppy?! I'm not a puppy, you asshole!" I raged, standing up, I gave him two blazing eyes of fury.
"So, you're a werewolf right?"
