Authors note:
if you've read this before you will notice it is different, i hated the original story and this is the start of the rewrite which i am a lot more proud of. please enjoy.
Draco Malfoy had always known his family was important, he always knew they were greater than other wizarding families. He always held himself with high regard, he walked with an aura of confidence and spoke in a manner of pure austerity. Draco Malfoy well and truly believed himself to be better than almost everyone else.
Perhaps it was down to the way he was raised, to value himself and his family above others, to show no interest or respect towards anyone lower on the social hierarchy than himself. Maybe it was because he'd always believed himself to be from one of the purest, strongest wizarding families in England.
This is why believing what he'd just been told was near enough impossible for him to comprehend what his mother had just told him, maybe she'd gone mad. Being around her father as much as she was it could be expected. Draco didn't want to believe that the only reason he was suffering from an awful headcold was because he was a bloody veela.
"Draco, you have to believe me. The Malfoy family are a family of very well respected wizards, but also veela's. Well, maybe not as well respected in that community. You're half veela, on your fathers side." Narcissa was a rather formal woman, it wasn't like her to start acting crazy atleast that's what Draco thought she was doing.
"Mother, that makes next to no sense." Draco argued, he refused to even entertain the idea he was anything less than what he had believed his entire life. Draco Malfoy was a pureblooded wizard, end of.
"It is true, Draco. Your father is a veela and I am his mate. You can ask him any further questions, he'll be up shortly."
-
Narcissa Malfoy was an orthodox woman, but that didn't mean she wasn't worrying her socks off for her sons safety. Veela's, whilst the law almost always hung in their favour, were very poorly looked at in society. Which was one of the main reasons the Malfoy family kept this particular venture secret. Veela's could also be very easily manipulated by their mate and would often think completely irrationaly if they were harmed.
"Lucius, I need you too speak to him. Draco doesn't believe a word I say and his seventeenth birthday is fast approaching, he needs to atleast find her before then. Please, Lucius I'm so worried about him." Narcissa plead to her husband, the love of her life.
"Of course I will, Cissa. Draco needs to know what he is." Lucius kissed the top of her head sweetly and then nodded. He started walking towards the door when he turned around again "We wont lose him, Cissa. Don't panic."
Lucius Malfoy walked up his manors grand staircase, he often loved to gallivant around his grand manor but today was not that time. Lucius was on a mission, convince the most stubborn person he had ever known that his entire life is a lie.
"Draco?" Lucius called to his son, not knowing which of the rooms in his personal wing Draco was feeling sorry for himself in.
"In here, Father." Draco called back, alerting his father he was in the room farthest away. Always a difficult child.
It was at this point Draco had started to get even more confused, he could stretch his imagination to believe his mother had gone temporarily insane but not his father. In Draco's mind the worst thing that Lucius Malfoy would ever think to tell someone was that the Malfoy's weren't as good as everyone thought.
Lucius opened his sons bedroom door and immediately noticed how feverish Draco looked, lying in bed with a somehow even paler complexion and red around his aristocratic nose.
"Now, I know you don't believe your mother but I'm here to explain further," Lucius began and Draco looked up confusedly. "Two hundred years ago Septimus Malfoy accidentally insulted a female veela, and you don't know any yet son but when you do you'll realise they're a bloody nightmare. They take everything ever so personally. The female veela cursed Septimus and traded his pure wizarding Malfoy blood for sullied veela blood. She made it so that every male Malfoy born for the next two hundred and fifty years would be a Veela. Tarnishing our pure blood name." Lucius spoke bitterly, he hated that veela bitch whoever she was.
Draco looked equally confused and angry, he then questioned his father "If we've been veelas for that long how come no one knows yet? Surely it would have come out."
"No, it never will. Septimus saw to that. Now this is what you need to know, firstly your sick now because you're going through your veela transformation. By tomorrow you will be slightly taller, more lean slightly shaggier hair. Well those are the basic changes, all in all you will be more attractive. It also means other girls will begin to be more attracted to you as veelas give off some sort of musk they find very tempting. You, however, will only want your mate."
Draco listened intently, it was in no way the life he wanted but being even more attractive didn't sound too bad. This Veela stuff didn't sound too fun though.
"You need to find your mate before your seventeenth birthday. Chances are she'll go to Hogwarts as there are no reported cases of veelas mates being in other countries. You'll know its her when you see her, your heart will pound very fast even if your sat down and she will look a lot brighter than any other girl there. Now I'll give you some time to think."
Draco stood up, kicked his quidditch bag that was next to his bed and promptly screamed "For fucks sake!"
