I set the flowers on her grave, taking the dead ones to throw aways later. Then I lifted a patch of grass and dropped this week's note in there, along with the other ones.
This was my weekly routine. Setting flowers on her grave and writing note to tell her everything I could no longer say. It was my pathetic attempt to keep her alive in some way. She diserved better.
Alice was my first love, from 15 to 18. She was the sun, my world, and now, gone forever, never to show her beauty to all the world
Because that's what was going to happen. I was going to marry her, and she would become queen, and my wife.
But now that won't happen because she was taken away by a bullet to the head, and now I had to marry someone else. And that was killing me.
Now it's been a year since Alice ' s death, and I had one more year to find a wife, or the entire royal family would be killed and the population to elect new leaders. That COULD NOT happen.
So my father decided to take 3 girls from each of the 12 Dividers. I would then use eleven months to pick a girl to make my queen, in love or not. Every month I would eliminate 2 girls. On the first day of the 12 month, I had to pick one person out of the remaining 14 girls.
All because my Alice was 5 feet under ground and as lifeless as a squashed bug. The world was unfair.
The girls were going to be named, or presented, on live television today and would arrive tomorrow.
Oh the way I was feeling! I was nervous and exited.
But what if I didn't love any of them. I would rule, sleep, and produce an heir with a person I truly didn't love.
No. I would find someone. There are 36 girls. One of them have to be enough.
