I studied the sleek black dress laying on the bed. A blush rose to my cheeks as I took in the neckline. Embarrassment swirled in me as I tried shoving it back into the bag as his brown eyes pinned me with a curious look.
"What's that?" He asked. He stepped over to my side and gently grasped the bags edge, he brown eyes bored into my own, asking if it was okay to take a look. A sigh escaped me and I nodded. Chewing my lip, I watched in anxiety as my newly made husband took the bag from me and reached to pull out the dress. His brows furrowed in curiosity as he placed the bag on the bed and held up the dress. His eyes widened and his head bobbed.
"Oh... Now I see."
I quickly plucked the dress from his hands, my blush deepening. "The cashier must have gave me the wrong bag." I said under my breath while cramming it in the bag. "I'll go return it tomorrow."
He nodded, "Seems reasonable. The other girl might do the same. You never know."
"Yep. She would probably return the items since it might not be her size. Plus I'm sure my modest Christian clothing isn't her style. I'm pretty sure I would never wear this out in public. It's...not right to show that much skin." I said waving the bag in the air. His chocolate brown eyes squinted and an eyebrow raised on his tanned face.
"You can't show skin?" He asked, and pointed at my hand, " Then what's that?"
I rolled my eyes and chuckled, "Oh hush. Don't be so literal."
He frowned and faced me fully, standing a good head taller. He placed his hands on his hips and spoke with utmost seriousness.
"I'm trying to make a biblical point here. Darling."
I casted my eyes to the grey carpet and bowed my head meekly, " Sorry..." I said on a whisper.
He sighed and stepped closer to me. Two calloused fingers went under my chin and lifted my eyes to his.
"Darling, don't do that. First, we are equal in this marriage and can talk freely. That's how relationships work. Communication both ways. Second, yes. Showing off excess skin is sinful to not just you, but others as well. Third... " Never leaving my eyes, he plucks the bag from the chair and hands it to me. His fingers glided across my jaw and down my neck. Sparks ignited across my skin, leaving a heated path in its wake. I shivered and closed my eyes as his face inched closer to mine. His lips brushed against my own before they pressed firmer onto mine in a kiss. He slid his hand to the back of my head and tilted my head back. He mouth opened against mine. His tongue flicked out to run across the seam of my lips, asking for entrance. I parted them in a breathy sigh. As soon as they opened, his moved forward to touch my own. My head whirled as he deepened the kiss, his velvety tongue moving against mine. I let myself be lost in the feel of it. I stepped into him and felt the bag crinkle in my hands between us. His other arm went around behind my shoulders. He broke the kiss after a moment, backing his head up with a chuckle. His brown eyes gleamed down at me as the fingers in my hair went to my other shoulder. He slowly spun me around and walked me over to the bathroom. " Third, there is no reason why you can't wear that dress." He said. We stopped near the bathroom entrance and I turned to face him, eyes widening in shock as I gripped the bag to my chest.
"But I can't wear this!"
"But you can!" He said jovially, a gleam sparked in his eye. He stepped toward me until we were mere centimeters away and reached out to open the door. "There is nowhere in the bible where it says you can't expose skin to your own husband in the privacy in your own home. It would be hard to make babies if that was so."
My heart thundered in my chest and I looked up at him, body flushing.
"I-I..." I was left speechless. My heart thundered in my chest and I looked up at him, face flushing in embarrassment. "It might not be my size."
"Open the bag and look."
I opened the bag with a gulp and peeked at the tag which was laying close to the top. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach. "It's my size."
He chuckled and reached out to grasp my shoulders. His eyes looked steadily in mine, "Then wear it. If you like it, you can buy clothing like that to wear inside. As long as you don't let anyone else see you."
I bit my lip and nodded in understanding. He smiled and bent down to place his lips on my forehead, "Good. Now go change into it." He said, stepping back and spinning me around. He ushered me into the bathroom and shut the door once I was inside.
