The wind blew furiously above the kingdom. The high walls of thick concrete stood tall and bold. The tallest tower of the palace surpassed the wall, almost touching the sky. The palace sits in the middle of the whole kingdom, at the core.
Minseok sits on top of the wall, one knee propped up and the other hanging on the other side of their world. The wind pushes his dark brown hair out of his face. Minseok bites into his red apple as he studies the gray clouds ahead. His silver necklace glints in the sun above. His last gift to him and his brother. His lost brother. His cape drapes behind him, covering his back. His muscles are well outlined with him only wearing a leather vest. A tatto is imprinted on his left forearm to show he's from the Allegiance--protectors of the kingdom. The cry of a hawk catches Minseok's attention. It's time to go. He finishes the apple till the core is all that is left. Minseok holds it in the air by the stem and slowly a thin layer of ice closes around the core of the apple. Minseok drops it. It breaks like glass as it hits the ground thousands of feet below. Minseok jumps off the wall, landing on the roof of a building, breaking the stone pieces slightly. He runs fast...faster than the wind.
King Suho peers at his kingdom from his balcony in the tallest tower. He can see above and beyond the wall. The world behind the wall is mysterious and dangerous. He sighs as he watches the gray clouds swimming in ahead.
Suho sits on his throne, five warriors kneeled down on one knee before him. "Your highness," they greeted in sync. Chanyeol, commander of the Allegiance who holds the power of fire. Baekhyun, best defense fighter with the power of light. Tao, who excels in offense and controls time. Kyungsoo, possessor of earth, strong in both defense and offense. Minseok, main stragetist, defense and offense fighter--power of ice. Yixing, the healer, who specializes in healing and killing. But Yixing is not present.
"Your highness," Chanyeol speaks. "Kyungsoo and Minseok will find Yixing. They'll be leaving at noon." Both Minseok and Kyungsoo bow their heads. Suho stares at the floor for a bit. His heart is filled with worries that he must keep to himself--worries for that one warrior. As a king, he's sacrificed too much. Even his love. Yixing. "Please return safely," Suho says, sincerely. Please find him, the king wanted to say. The king's not feeling to well. It's been two days since the warrior went missing. Two days ago, the Allegiance went to the outside for training purposes and Yixing disappeared.
Minseok and Kyungsoo walked next to each other as they headed towards the large barred gate. The kingdom had a total of five gates. Minseok and Kyungsoo were leaving the northwest gate. They stepped outside and left when the gate closed behind them. Kyungsoo's familar with the outside. He knows the forest and the earth that lies beneath it. He lived outside of the kingdom when he was young. His father had tried to hide him from the king.
Minseok and Kyungsoo walk a few miles into the forest before the temperature dropped dramatically. It didn't effect Minseok though. Sunlight was locked out by the tall trees. The forest was quiet. Too quiet. Minseok holds up a hand to stop Kyungsoo. "You smell that?"
Kyungsoo smells it. Kyungsoo squats, grabbing the cool soil on the ground. He rubs the soil with his fingers, inhaling the scent. "Wolves." Kyungsoo's eyes shot up. A snarling pack of wolves, surrounded the two. Minseok's long dagger was already clutched in his hand. Kyungsoo stands up, watching the wolves closely. "Watch out!" Kyungsoo looks up and sees Yixing swinging down from the tree to meet them. Minseok keeps his focus on the wolves. Before Kyungsoo can say anything to Yixing, the wolves charged them. Minseok runs towards the dark brown wolf, dodging the wolf's raging fangs and slicing his blade across the wolf's core. Blood and guts stained the earth. Minseok slickly wiped the blood off his cheek. Kyungsoo takes his bow into his hands, pulling three arrows against the bowstring. He aims at three wolves who charged toward him. Kyungsoo releases the arrows and once he does, a black wolf knocks him over. Minseok throws his sword to Yixing, helping his friend out and too busy to take notice of Kyungsoo. Kyungsoo rolls over to face the wolf. He looks into the wolf's gray eyes and a memory flashes back into his head.The wolf's fierce expression eased. Kyungsoo turned his head. Kyungsoo took his small dagger tucked in his boot and threw it at the white wolf, who was about to tackle Minseok from behind. The dagger soared through the air like lightning and striked the white wolf in the left eye. It whimpered to the floor, growling angrily. Kyungsoo looks for the black wolf. It's gone.
