Lydia watched the clock as it ticked by, counting the minutes until she could be free to hang with her friends. Every day they could, Lydia and her friends escaped to a booth in their favorite restaurant, Pop's. The sound of the school clock ticking mocked her as her history teacher droned on and on about the Vietnam War and the importance of medicine against Malaria. She didn't bother to listen. She was going to fail anyway.
The bell finally rang after what seemed an eternity. She grabbed her book bag and rushed into the hallway to meet Betty and Veronica. Lydia adored the way they quickly took her under their wing. She amde a mental note to thank them for that.
As they were walking, they met up with Archie and Jughead. Lydia stayed quiet examining the boy in the rather odd beanie. He was quite pale himself however his black hair didn't over power him. He carried a laptop and a book bag so large it almost looked like a hiking bag. His eyes were a pretty shade of hazel-brown.
"You know, pictures last longer, Lydia." Jughead spoke jokingly, breaking her train of thought. Lydia began blushing, but thought quickly.
"It's usually better in person, though." Lydia teased. Jughead's smirk turned a small grin.
"Ah, I see." He added, winking as the group walked in and and claimed their usual booth. The dark haired boy sat nearest to the wall and so did Lydia on the opposite side of the booth. He pulled out his laptop and started to type when Archie chimed in.
"Why don't you interact tonight, Jughead?" He looked up at the sound of his name.
"I really need to-" Jughead began.
"Please, Jug?" Archie pleaded. Jughead replied with a sigh and continued typing.
"Yeah, Juggie, why not?" Lydia begged. He looked up at her with a puzzled look, almost like he was trying to figure out why she cared. He took a deep breath and put away his laptop.
"Do you expect me to interact too?" He joked.
"I mean you could just sit there and keep up this whole 'cute and mysterious bad boy' thing going." She smiled as a warm sensation flooded her cheeks.
"So I'm cute now?" Jughead questioned.
"Never said you weren't." Lydia shot.
"Can you two get a room?" Veronica laughed, making Lydia blush and him smile.
The evening grew on. The group laughed and teased all night until the blue sky grew to a deep midnight. Archie left to walk with Betty early on, and Kevin and Veronica went late night shopping, leaving only Lydia and Jughead.
"Well, are you going to go home?" Lydia questioned.
"I could ask you the same thing." Jughead smirked.
She smiled, "I don't think I am."
"I'm sure some one wants there little princess home by now." Jughead smirked. Lydia's expression faded into a frown as she looked down at her hands. Jughead quickly caught on. "Because If no one else will take her, I sure as hell will."
