Tears streamed down the boys cheeks, his mind not being able to comprehend what was happening. His body burned from the fire coating him, seeming eager to engulf his body in it's agonizing grasp, the pain he was in was excrutiating. He let out a ragged cough due to the smoke that was almost suffocating him. This was surely his end.

"Giving up so easily?" The words shot through his ears causing him to scream in pain at their volume, the voice sounding unnatrual and fury filled, yet oddly calming.

In the distance he saw a figure cloaked in black approaching him, he couldn't move, he didn't know what was going on, he couldn't even call for help, he was helpless. A cruel chuckle echoed around the room, he couldn't take it anymore, his vision had started fading to black but he forced himself to keep conciousness as the figure stood over him.
"Not so high and mighty now, are we?" The man spoke in spite. Who the hell was this guy? He stared to think but all the boy could do was listen to the mans dark words.
"Don't come back here," The boy couldn't do it anymore, the fear of death and the confusion wearing him out. He did, however hear one last thing before his eyes shut one final time...

"You deserve this."

Jaylan jolted awake, sweat dripped down his face as he panted heavily. He had been haunted by the same nightmare for a year now, ever since he lost his memory. He checked his surrounding to make sure he was safe, he was outside in the dark after all. He thought back to how things got like this.

He had awoken in a field one day lost, alone, with no memory. It terrified him and in a futile attempt to find out who he was, who his family was, he got labeled a criminal, a thief, a murderer. It angered him. He didn't even know why people thought that, sure he stole what he needed to live but he never took more than necessary and he would never kill anyone!

He seethed in anger, 'They need to pay for- No.' He thought, refusing to finish his sentence. It was selfish of him to say that, he didn't want to be a monster. "How childish..." He said aloud to himself mockingly. "I should probably go get breakfast." He started to chew his nail and stood up. "I think an apple will do." And with that, he started walking towards the market place, laughing quietly to himself as he went.
