Point of view: Carter
"Hurry Charlie, we're close I can feel it." I had managed to puff out that sentence in between my quavering breaths.
"I'm coming, I'm coming" He growled, "are you sure fathers not going to be mad."
Ignoring his question I led on dashing through the woods skipping over twigs, leaves and what I think was left of the deer's last meal.
Turning back I yelled, " Jesus Charlie could you move any slower?" After said, I could since him trailing more and more behind me, and soon coming to a halt.
"What the hell Charles." I snapped, " why'd you stop."
" I'm sorry but maybe we should turn back, if father find out we were back here—"
Cutting him off I said, " Come on, I promise our destination is right up ahead."
" But Caroline if we get caught then it's off with our heads, you know fathers been in a slouch lately." He protested.
I was over driven by anger and blared out, " FOR BLOODY SAKES CHARLIE WHY THE HELL DO YOU KEEP DEFENDING THAT SKALLYWAG. HE LIED TO US, HE TOLD US HE WOULD NEVER BE A COLD HEARTED POWER HUNGRY KING BUT GEUSS WHAT THAT DIDN'T WORK OUT NOW DID IT."
I felt a since if guilt as he hung his head low and said nothing in response to my rampage.
Stepping up I gently placed a hand on his shoulder, "hey it's all going to be fine Charlie, soon we'll be Brother And Sister Ruling the kingdom." Giving him a reassuring look with a nudge I added, "As long as you stop calling me Caroline or else we're going to have some real problems."
At the last statement he looked up and rolled his eyes. " What ever you say just don't call me Charles"
"I promise you I will never call you Charles again." With a wink of an eye we both giggled. " let's see we go find ourselves the portal!" I said.
