The Day I Met Him

Caleb's POV

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. I lazily rolled out of bed. "First day of school today.." I said to myself. Mom and I had just moved to this little town, called Portland. It's way quieter than our old city, NYC. 

I got up from the ground and walked up to my closet. I put on a black hoodie with faded blue jeans and timberlands. I looked in the mirror. Good enough for a first day on a new school, right?

 I walk into the bathroom to fix my hair. I look in the mirror. "Hooooly.." I look like I jumped out of a coffin. I quickly brushed my hair and ran downstairs for breakfast.

"Goodmorning, honey! You excited for your first schoolday?" my mom says happily while she puts a piece of an orange in the blender. I nod. "Yeah, I guess." She hands me a smoothie. "Drink up! It's healthy and it tastes amazing." I laugh and take a sip. "Everything you make tastes nice, mom." Her eyes twinkle and she has a big smile on her face. "So, are you gonna be on a look out for cute boys today?" She says playfully. "Mom, please." She laughs and strokes my hair.

I finish my smoothie and put the empty cup in the dishwasher. "I gotta go mom." I give her a little smooch on her cheek. "Bye Caleb! Love you!" She shouts from the kitchen. "Love you too!" 

*at school*

I look at the paper in my hands. "Ohgod, where the hell.." Suddenly I see a girl walking up to me. "Hey! Can I help you?" She has a soft, warm voice. Before I can say anything she has already snatched the paper out of my hands.

"Oh! Uhm.. class 167 and.. Mrs. Hansworth! I have the same class. Let's go!" She grabs my arm and pulls me through the halls full of people.

"Erm, thanks?" I say with a half smile. She looks up at me. She's very short, and has long black hair. She nods. "I'm sorry, I haven't even properly introduced myself! I'm Skylar!" She smiles and looks at me, like she's waiting for something. "Oh, yeah.. uhm. I'm Caleb. Nice to meet you." I awkwardly rub my neck. "Nice to meet you too, Caleb."

She stops infront of our class. "You're new here, right? Because I have never seen you before!" She laughs at me. I nod. "Yeah, first day for me at this school." I stare at my feet. "I hope you'll like it here." She says before pulling me into the classroom.

We took seats in the back of the class and waited for the teacher to walk in. After a little while she turns to me. "So, Caleb. Did you move here recently?" As I open my mouth to answer her question, a tinted guy with black hair and glasses walks into the classroom, and I have to say; He looked hella good.

"Caaaaleb? I asked you something." Skylar noticed that I was looking at him. "That's Yuani, one of my friends." I look at Skylar who happily waves at Yuani. He waves back and walks towards us. 

"Hey Sky! Who's this? Your new lover?" He sticks out his tongue. Even his voice is handsome. She punches him in the shoulder. "No, you idiot! This is Caleb, he's new." Skylar looks at me then at Yuani and back to me. "Uh, Hi. Nice to meet you." I stare at the book that's laying on my table. "Not much of a talker huh?" Yuani laughs and takes place next to me. 

Yuani's POV

As I walk into the classroom, I try to spot Skylar. I look around the classroom and then I see her sitting next to a guy with brown hair and big blue eyes. She waves at me. I walk towards them.

"Hey Sky! Who's this? Your new lover?" I stick out my tongue while putting my bag down on the table next to the boy. "No, you idiot! This is Caleb, he's new." I look at the both of them. I see Skylar looking at him with a look that says something like.. "Come on, say something."  I smile. "Uh, Hi. Nice to meet you." He shyly stares at his book on the table. "Not much of a talker huh?" I say while taking place next to him. 

"I'm Yuani, if you didn't already know." I look at Skylar with a serious face. She lifts up both her hands in the air. "I can't help it. I'm just too fast for you!" She playfully shouts at me and puts her hands back down. "Yeah, sure you are." Skylar pokes Caleb in his side. "So, about that question from before..." He looks up. "Oh yeah, we just moved here from New York." Sky's mouth falls wide open. "NEW YORK? You came from New York, all the way to fucking Portland??" He nods with a shy smile. "Why?" She grabs his shoulders and shakes him. "WHy??!" Caleb laughs. "My mom got a job here. She's a police officer." He looks around. "That's awesome." I say while I put a hand on his shoulder.
