Peter sat quietly from his fire escape, feet dangling over the edge, and stared towards the alley below. Lost in his thoughts he barely noticed when a horribly disfigured man limped from the shadows. His skin was peeling and oozing pus, but the man hardly seemed to notice this as he stalked towards a robber that Peter had also failed to notice.
Peter frowned at his lack of attention, but also at the degenerate, as he slid up behind the robber. His spidey sense didn't even tingle as he snapped the robbers neck in one, swift motion. He gasped in shock and quickly hauled himself up and over the ledge of the fire escape. When he peeked back over yellow, pupil-less eyes stared back at him.
Without a second thought Peter threw himself through his window and into his bedroom, breathing heavily. Mind racing and speechless, he struggled to focus on the situation at hand.
'Why didn't my spidey sense go off? Who is the man? Where did he come from? What the shit, Parker?' he finally thought.
Peter actually jumped to the ceiling when there was a loud knock on the door. He frowned as his spidey sense tingled long his spine, finally making itself known. Slowly approaching the door from the ceiling, the tingles became more and more subtle, and he lowered himself to the floor. Peter duly noted the noise of a small argument, floors below, and opened the door.
Several men in dark suits stood facing him and his spidey sense rocketed as they regarded him.
"Mr. Parker." one man began, as the shocks along his spine diminished to tingles again.
"PETEYYYYY!" was the only warning he received, before a hail of bullets rained down upon the men.
Peter gawked as the rotted man from earlier barged down the hall wielding guns in both hands. The men at his door dropped like rocks and the floor fell silent again.
The man stepped over the bodies and into Peter's apartment, "Sorry about that baby boy, I know how you feel about the whole... unaliving thing."
Some switch was finally flipped in his brain and Peter quickly webbed the door shut, and the man to the door.
'Did you really just out yourself, Parker?' his mind helpfully supplied.
However this didn't even seem to slow the man down as he carelessly ripped his hand from the door, dislocating his wrist in the process, "Now look Pete, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but-"
Peter cut him off with a web to the mouth, "Who the fuck are you? Where did you come from? Why did you kill all those people?"
The man winced and peeled the webbing off his face, "I'm Wade Wilson, or Deadpool. But honey, you can call me daddy. As for the where... Earth. Somewhere like this, just... another universe."
Peter arched an eyebrow and Wade shivered. "I didn't mean to Pete. I just, I can't let them hurt you. Not again." he said soberly, the mood change giving Peter whiplash.
Peter softened his gaze and regarded the man-Wade-silently, "Would you like to sit?"
Wade startled and shook his head, skipping over to the couch and throwing himself down. Peter followed and sat on the other end, facing Wade.
After a beat of silence, "They killed you last time. HYDRA. We thought we were safe and-and we weren't. They came into our house and killed you because you wouldn't give me over. You wouldn't let me give myself over to protect you."
Peter frowned. Everything this man was saying shouldn't have made sense, but for some reason, it just did.
"So why did HYDRA want you? And why are you here? How did you get here?" he questioned.
"Oh sweetie Petey, I can't die. Well I can, but I come back. Like an STD. Like Wolvie on steroids. HYDRA wanted me to make some super soldier program-you would've thought they learned the first time around. But you refused. You fought and destroyed any HYDRA soldiers or base you came across. I tried giving myself up, because you were running yourself ragged. But one night, we were sleeping and they busted down all the doors and windows and... they killed you. They tried to take me, but I killed them all." Peter felt tears spring to his eyes as he listened to Wade.
"I grabbed the transporter," he tapped the machine slung across his chest, "And high tailed it out of there. I knew that they'd come here next, to bring you back to our dimension. So that they could use you as bait, because this time you wouldn't know me, you wouldn't fight for me. But they got here first. Peter, listen, I know you don't know me-ain't nothing like me, 'cept me, I'm the one and only- but listen. I'm going to protect you this time. I'm not letting what happened to my Peter, happen to you."
Peter sat speechless, a plethora of emotions swirling through his head, "Alright. But damn dude, that fucking sucks."
Wade snorted, "Spidey-babe, you don't even know!"
