Chapter I

*Daniel Seavey added you as a friend!

I looked down at my phone notifications. Who added me?

I unlocked my phone to see a message

*Daniel Seavey sent you a message*

Daniel: Hiya!

Me: Hello, who is this?

Daniel: Oh lol my name is Daniel :)

Me: I can see that but um how do you know me.. or get my snapchat?

Daniel: Our friend. Jack. He gave me it.

Me: Ugh I'm sorry. he isn't supposed to give out my info anymore. Brb

Daniel: Oh ok I didn't know, take your time.

Me: JACK WTH

Jack: Wassup girly

Me: You really gave my snapchat to some random dude?!?

Jack: Yeahhh I think you guys will click good. give him a shot Mae. for me?

Me: I'm not giving him anything. Bye.

Jack: Wait Mae!

*opened*

Well its already 8 at night. I suppose I should get ready to go to bed. I ran into the bathroom and quickly showered. I blow-dried my long auburn hair before tying it into a messy bun. I picked up my toothbrush and started to brush my teeth, I finished and wiped my mouth. I went into my room and changed clothes so I was in comfy pajamas for sleep.

I layed in my bed and set my alarm on my phone before plugging it in for the night. I drifted off into a dreamless but peaceful sleep.

I awoke to the loud beeping of my alarm and realized I was 15 minutes later than usual, I guess I don't get breakfast today. I hurriedly got out of bed and put on light denim jeans with rips on the knees, an oversized maroon hoodie, and some converse. I brushed my hair up into a bun and put my glasses on. I grabbed my book bag and threw it over my shoulder while running downstairs taking a breakfast bar with me onto the bus.

I plopped into the seat next to my best friend Emily. After a few more stops we stopped at Jack's stop and he got on. Running over to us he sat across from us but not before giving Emily a kiss. I rolled my eyes as they laughed at me. My two bestfriends. My only friends. In such a weird but cute relationship. That was them though, cute but odd. They were perfect together. I looked over at Jack who had an apologetic look on his face.

     "Mae I'm sorry, I just thought you.   needed someone"
"I dont need anyone J. I'm fine"
Emily cut in.
"Hun he's not meaningyou need someome. We just noticed how lonely you've been and wanted to help"
"I said I'm fine Em. Just let it go."

Jack and Emily looked down.
The bus slowed to a stop in front of our school and I stood up quickly, practically running off the bus into the halls.

I almost made it to my locker before i slammed into someone and fell onto the floor.
"Shit" I said hitting my leg on the cold tiles. I looked up to see a handsome boy with amazing hair and beautiful blue eyes.

"I-Im sorry" he said extending his hand and lifting me up.
"Thanks" i said still staring at the ground.
"Well its nice to meet you- uh I don't know your name"
"Mae." I finished
"Im Daniel"
"Are.. are you the one who added me on snapchat?"
"Ohhh yeah youre Jack's friend right"
"Yeah" i laughed "that's me"
"What's your first class" i asked
"Im new here but uhm" he pulled out his schedule. "I have math 2 first"
"Oh same, want to walk together"
"Yeah sure"

We smiled at eachother and walked down the hall and to the left reaching our class that we had with Emily and Jack. Daniel and I were the first ones in so we took seats together. Emily and Jack came in some time after us laughing and kissing eachother before sitting next to eachother. God it was sickening. I looked at them. They were wearing the same checkered converse. Ew.

I looked over at Daniel and saw him staring at me. I blushed and looked back at my paper. Did i really just blush. What! I tried to focus on my work but it was so hard, i wanted to stare at Daniel but i faught off the urge.

After classes finally ended and it was nearing the end of the day, I sat in my last class. History. I loved history but today it was just so bland. I started drifting off listening to the sound of the teacher blabing on and on.

The bell rung waking me up from my nap. I jumped out of my seat grabbing my books and heading over to my locker. I used my combination and put all of my items back into it. I walked out into the parking lot.

I saw Emily and Jack making out by his car. Ever since they started dating we never got to hang out. I sighed and made my way to my car. I texted Emily before I started my car.

Me:Yoyoyo wanna hang out later
Emmy: cant sorry loves hanging with J tonight
Me: youre always with Jack anymore..
Emmy: What do you mean
Me:I feel like we never are with eachother anymore. Like he matters more
Emmy: hes my boyfriend Mae i have to spend some time with him. It doesnt mean youre not important.
Me:yeah i am important just not as much as him. I get it now.
Emmy:what!? Thats not even what i meant. There you go assuming stuff again.
Me: YOURE BLAMING ME RIGHT NOW? REALLY
Emmy: YOURE SO DRAMATIC JUST SHUT UP
Me: DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO. YOU ARENT EVEN A TRUE FRIEND IF YOU TREAT ME LIKE THIS
Emmy: OH IM NOT A TRUE FRIEND? MAYBE YOURE NOT.

I didn't repond. I just started crying. I always cried. I was such a wuss. I drove home with tears in my eyes. I sat in my car and cried for 15 minutes. I felt like curling into a ball and never coming out. What had i done. My petty jealousy made me lose my best friend. I started crying again. My eyes were ugly and puffy by now.

I zombie walked into my house and up the stairs. Ignoring my mother's concerned questions. I jumped onto my bed and let put a huge scream into my pillow. None of this was fair. Nothing. I didn't deserve this at all. I just wanted my friend back. But I messed that up. I fell asleep in my room crying to myself. My phone buzzed and i saw a message from Jack.

Jack: What the hell happened? You're not responding and Emily is a wreck. She's on my bed crying right now.

I threw my phone and wrapped myself into a blanket. I heard my doorbell ring and then my mother answer it. I heard Daniel's sweet voice and then footsteps coming down the hall. A soft knock on my door came shortly after and his face appeared.

He walked over and didn't say anything. He just looked at me and hugged me. It was a sweet silence and i just cried into his shoulder. He rubbed my back and cuddled me untill I fell asleep in his arms.
