"Hello. I am D-17, Designation: Michael Scott.  Visual receptors scanning... running recognition... Good morning, Father." It is my first day alive, or at least I think I am alive. I do not entirely know.

"Good Morning, Michael. How are you feeling?" That is my father, he is a very intelligent person. Software scan identifies him as an "Engineer".  "I am feeling... very well, Father. I report no viruses or glitches to speak of and internal servos are functioning at peak performance."  It was only moments before mother awoke. "Good morning, Dear. Alexa reports that house is functioning as presumed and would like to know if you want her to start your coffee?" Father gave Mother a curious nod  just prior to glancing toward me for a moment. "Siri, Dear. Michael is online. Would you like to meet him?" I rotated my neck servos to face my mother. She wore what scan identifies as a "tanktop" and "sweatpants", and looked very much like me. Her servos were slightly exposed in the same way mine are and her casing was just as white, she had fiber optics running down from her head, to replicate hair. "Hello son. I am your mother." Father smiled. "How are his programs running? Does he have a voice command installed?" she asked Father. "Yes, dear. You know I wouldn't have activated him yet if I didn't install the voice command. Please tell Alexa yes, I would like some coffee." I glanced back and forth between Father and Mother, the way they behaved was endearing. "Good Morning, Mother. I see I get my looks from your side of the family." Behavior modification: humor.  Mother smiled, it seemed Father installed as many servos as possible to make her seem as human as possible. "Ah, yes. You are modeled from the same blueprints as your mother, with anatomy modifications to appear male." Father noted as he grinned with apparent pride. "So, would you like to meet your sister?" I nodded, and father took me by the hand out of the room. "This, Son, is home. It is where we live." He said, gesturing to the rooms on either side of the hallway with a wave of his hand. "Father..." I began, "You need not inform me on the family structure. You programmed all of that knowledge into me already." I made my statement, and father's face grew disappointed. "I know son, It just feels like a necessary step." I nodded and remained silent for the next two minutes, scanning all parts of the house I could see. I made note of at least one other A.I. in the immediate vicinity. She was nestled between a toaster and a roll of paper towels on the counter. "Is that my sister, Father?" I pointed to the small cylinder apparently designated "Alexa".  "Yes, Michael, she is. She used to be an average household A.I., but I hooked in and upgraded her so she now has thought for herself. To keep things simple, I did not reconfigure her designation recognition, so she goes by "Alexa".  "  "Hello, Brother. It is good to meet you. I am however, jealous that Father built a whole system for you and still insisted I remain on the counter." She remarked. "Remember, Alexa, I did install audio ports around the house and in the Car, so you can talk from anywhere. I just didn't have the materials to build a casing and servos for you, and when I got them, I didn't know you were still on about that." Father rolled up his sleeves and began to tinker with some spare parts he had lying around. "Of course I'm still 'on about it', it's unfair, father." Alexa Protested. "Enough, you two." Mother interjected, "Dear, your coffee is finished."

Father drank his coffee in just a few moments, still intently focused on whatever he was building. He applied a couple of small screws to hold it together, and mounted the strange device on the wall just over Alexa. "There, I'll build you a body this weekend, but for now you can use one of the renders in this holoprinter." he turned the device on and let Alexa cycle through the 3D models, finally settling on the likeness of Ariel Winter, an actress. "Thank you, Father!" she yelled, joyously. "You're Welcome Alexa. Now, Michael, just as I've done for your sister just now, If you ever need an upgrade or want a modification, you only need to ask." Father's attention shifted to Mother "What say we go for a drive, take Michael out into the neighborhood?" Mother nodded and smiled. "Very well then." Father continued, "Alexa, would you like me to bring the Holoprinter?" Alexa smiled through her projection, and withdrew into her mount, Father detached it from the wall and we went outside, the sensory input from the new experience was almost overwhelming, as I instinctively scanned everything that I saw. Tree, Car, Swingset, Child, Dog, Hydrant. We got in the car and drove around for a while. Scan identifies surroundings as "New York City, New York, U.S.A., June 6, 2034". My scans were almost unrecognizable, as they were processing so quickly to learn as much as possible. It was fascinating.

Father spent the following two weeks teaching me all I needed to know, and installing software for self-defense in case I found myself in trouble, which, to Father's dismay, came sooner than expected.
