Katie was busy making lunch when she heard her phone ring. She sighed in frustration and quickly wiped her hands to answer.
"Hello?" A familiar voice answered almost immediately. "Oi! Katie! How is my favorite girl?"
Katie rolled her eyes. Nue had always liked her, and she liked him, but she didn't want to make a commitment like a relationship with him until she knew he loved her and was going to be faithful. "Nue, number one; I am not YOUR girl. Number two; I'm kind of busy at the moment, can I call you back later?" There was silence at the other end of the line. "Hel-" Katie was cut off.
"What are you doing that is keeping you away from me?" Katie started to get annoyed. "I don't think that's any of your business-Hey! Don't touch that! Baby! Stop! Let that go! I-I'm sorry, Nue! I have to go!"
She quickly hung up the phone.
Nue just stood there in utter shock. Did he just hear Katie right? She didn't want to hang out with the most awesome person he knows and she called someone else her baby.
Nue tried to play off his feelings. He walked into the living room and threw his phone down. "Tch, whatever. She's just gonna be missing out on all this! Yeah! That's it. I was just too awesome for her to handle. Hehehehe~"
He turned on the television and began flipping through the channels. About five minutes had passed and he began twitching in his seat.
Suddenly, he stood up and raced to the kitchen. "I'm not going to lose Katie to some random bastard!" He grabbed his keys and ran out the door.
Nue had somehow made the normal thirty minute drive to Katie's home in ten. He got out of the car and ran, not even bothering shutting off his vehicle.
He opened the door and ran inside. "KATIE!" He practically screamed. Katie ran out from the room she was in.
She saw him as she quirked an eyebrow. "Nue?"
Nue ran to her and embraced Katie like he was embracing on to dear life.
"Katie! Please don't give up on me! Don't choose some a-hole over me!" Katie blushed at his closeness. "Nue, what are you talking about. Keep it down."
He pulled away and grabbed Katie's shoulders and held her close. "Katie, I love you!" He stated, his face close to hers.
"What the fudge is going-" Katie was cut off when he slammed his lips onto hers.
Her eyes widened and her face grew a darker shade of red. He pulled away leaving her breathless.
He cupped her face in his hands and rested his forehead on hers.
She looked up into his eyes as he spoke. "Katie, I love you and even though you don't want to be with me, I want to be with you. So please, will you be mine?"
She smiled. "Oh, Nue. I love you too."
He looked surprised.
She took this chance to lean forward and place a light kiss on his lips. He pulled back, looking confused.
"What is it?" She noticed how red his face was.
"Katie, if you love me, then why are you with someone else?" He asked her.
Now it was her turn to look confused.
"Wait, what? Nue, I'm not with anybody. I've been waiting for you to man up and tell me how you really felt." His voice raised.
"Yes, you are! I heard you talking to someone and then you called them 'baby'!" He practically screamed.
"Nue! Hush!" Just then, the sound of a baby's cry was heard throughout the house. "Damn it! I just put him to sleep!"
Katie ran off to the room she had come out from when Nue busted in. He followed her trying to figure out what was happening.
He gasped when he saw her cradling a baby that looked no older than one. She looked at him and motioned him to go wait in the living room.
He did as he was told. He walked to the couch and took a seat.
Ten minutes had passed and she crept out, shutting the door quietly behind her. Katie walked over to Nue and sat down next to him.
He looked embarrassed. "So...." He started "..That was 'baby' and....you have a kid?" She laughed.
"No. I'm baby sitting for my sister while she's at work." Katie saw him sigh in relief. Feeling bold, he grabbed her hand. "Katie, I'm sorry for everything."
She blushed as she placed her head on his shoulder. "No, it's fine. It got us here, didn't it?" Nue smiled.
"Yeah, I guess misunderstandings aren't all bad."
