Jesse never really enjoyed going to school, he thought it was a huge waste of his time. His home life wasn't the best either. His family didn't do much with their life, except for Jesse's dad. His name was Mark.
Although Mark did something with his life, it wasn't something that meant he got a job and was able to support his family, but instead everyone in the state was afraid of this man. He began doing many illegal things since Jesse started messing with drugs 2 years ago. For example, he messed with many gangs and was always a problem for the local authorities. This wasn't much of a concern for Jesse because that just meant no-one messed with him at school. Jesse has since stopped messing around with drugs and started acting like more of a normal student. (But that was very difficult because of his past)
School was an entirely different situation, he was treated like someone special, unlike home. At home he wasn't allowed to do much except to do his homework, eat dinner, and stay in his room. Although he didn't like school, he loved all his friends. His friends were what kept him going when shit got tough. Today, school was canceled for the "Great American Eclipse" which meant one less day of school that week.
Jesse's dad and step mom left to do some shopping. Jess never left the house unless he had to go somewhere or for school. But he decided to go and hang out with his girlfriend, Kaci. He had a good amount of friends but he wanted to hang out with Kaci instead to get some quality boyfriend, girlfriend time in before his parents came home. Today in matter of fact was there 6 month anniversary which was the longest either of them have been together with someone.
Before heading to her house Jess wanted to pick up some nice flowers for Kaci and a card to just warm her heart a little. In total it was $20.00, but in Jesse's eyes, it wasn't but just a simple investment. Kaci lived just down the road so he didn't have to go far, but he had to travel longer to gather the flowers and card, so he took his bike to get some exercise as well. Today was going absolutely amazing. It was a few minutes before the eclipse so he tried to get to Kaci's so they could experience it together.
Jesse made it to Kaci's and saw her lying down outside ready to experience the total solar eclipse. Jess didn't tell her that he was coming over so when she noticed Jess, she leaped with joy and darted to his bike to give him a big hug and kiss. As Kaci hugged him she whispered, "I can't believe we get to experience this together." Jesse just smiled and asked, "Do you know what today is?" She shook her head and yelled, "Its our anniversary silly, of course!"
Jesse turned to his bike and got the stuff out of his bag and gave it to Kaci. She almost teared up, but realized that the eclipse was about to happen. She grabbed his arm and they ran back to the blanket where Kaci was laying and she handed him some glasses so they could look at the eclipse. As the moon went in front of the sun they began to stare in amazement. All the lights in the neighborhood turned on and all the little insects began to make noise. "I can't believe the universe has created such a beautiful show just for the two of us," said Kaci. After the eclipse was over they both just looked at each other and said, "Wow!" Jesse and Kaci just sat and talked for a while until Jess had to go. Kaci told Jess how great of a boyfriend he was and that she wouldn't have wanted to be with anyone else looking at the beautiful solar eclipse other than him. His cheeks began to blush as he went to his bike. He looked back and blew a kiss to her, she did the same and he was off back home.
When Jess got home, he went straight to his room and waited for his parents to come home. He began messing with a piece of paper and started writing about how much he loved being alive and how his life may have finally got on track. He filled the entire paper with little logos he liked, pictures which came to mind, and wrote sentences after sentences about how much he loved his girlfriend. He decided to stop messing with the paper and went to take a quick power nap. An hour passed, but then Jesse's nap was interrupted by the tires of his parents car skirt all the way up the drive way and knew that something was wrong. He ran outside to ask his step-mom what was wrong but she just looked at him and began crying. Jesse's heart was beginning to beat faster as anything could have happened. He glanced at the passenger side and didn't see his father in the car, that was when Jess realized what was happening and with his voice trembling he asked, "Where's dad?"
