golden sun rays glinted silver off sharp cutlery that nicked chins of absent-minded girls / thoughts of boys seeping out from their clenched fists and sizzling on sand preoccupied their minds but maybe their bubble wrapped hearts couldn't bear to think such a thing / but maybe they could / what if bubble wrap supposedly surrounding and protecting was squeezing suffocating? / could they make small talk of murder over chamomile tea or would the room fill with the smoke of choked on words and gritted teeth? / sure, words could be honey glazed and topped with cherries the shape of hearts, but if their dead, dull, eyes move and leer at yours could you spit lies into their mouth? / should you?
