Chapter One

Blood was everywhere. How it got there is my story to tell. How the world ended is also mine, and I am sorry to those who read this.

I reached for the glass vial that had a blue liquid in it. " Hey honey." said my husband, allowing me to accidentally spill it on my hands. I didn't even have an idea what was in the vial, but supposedly it was non toxic. " Hey, let me wash my hands real quick and then I'll tell you what I have done with that cure we were working on". I walked over to the sink and lathered soap onto my hands. " Gah!" That burned. I turned my hand over and noticed that the blue liquid had dissolved into the cut on the back of my hand. Should have worn gloves. I breathed out and quickly rinsed off the soap, hoping it didn't have a chemical reaction with the blue liquid.

" So I have managed to get the cure for this new viral disease down to a science" I said grinning so wide it hurt. My grandfather had been infected with it. If I could find the cure, then I could cure my grandfather. I showed him the chemical compounds I had mixed. It was currently on a study trial with three subjects who, so far, hadn't experience any side effects. "Honey, have I told you about the patients that are now on trial with this cure?" I said again, grinning widely. "No, but I wish to meet these test subjects. Were they infected previously or did you have to infect them?" He asked scratching at the scruff that had grown on his face. We had been working non stop for the last few days now. He was still handsome with his scruff. He had a soft face and one amazing jaw line. How he became a scientist instead of a model is beyond me. " Yes, they had been infected previously. Why don't we go and take a look?"

"Wow" He said wrapping his arms around my waist. " How long has this medicine been on trial?" he said scratching his scruff again. "About a month. It should be released to the public tomorrow actually. They want us to give a statement at the White House when they release it. " I said handing him a signed paper by the government. "Wow, this is the climax of our career!" He exclaimed, hopping excitedly by my side. One of the patients then pressed the buzzer beside her bed, meaning she wanted one of us to come to her.

"Hi! What can we do for you?" I said taking her hand in mine. " Can I have a glass of water? My head dus hurt a bit. I think I dehydrated." She had said with a western accent. Max had handed her the glass of water. "Thanks" She said, downing the water very quickly and returning to her rest.

We hung up our lab coats and signed out. We lived in a small town. If any viral outbreak had happened at the lab, it would have been less worse in a small town. Not many people to infect. We stepped out into the dark night, yawing even though I wasn't the least bit tired. Max hopped into the drivers seat of the car. "America, get in the car. I have something at home to celebrate." He said, grinning from ear to ear. We drove down the dark road into the quiet, dark and lonely country side.

Hello! This is a book I plan on finishing. This first chapter is going to be the start of a new book (Of course). Please vote! I would enjoy it and make sure to spread this book. It will help me to become an author in the future! Thanks!
