“Commitment? Akala ko ba ayaw mo ng...”

“Teka! Sabi na nga ba mamimisunderstood mo yung title ko e. Kaya sya tinawag na Contract of Commitment kasi committed na tayo sa isa’t-”

“Sabi na, may gusto ka sa’ki...”

“Tinga! Patapusin mo nga muna ko! Ibig ko sabihin, diba bawal tayo magjowa muna? E di ayun tama nga. Committed tayo na magtulungan kaya committed tayo na wag magBFGF!”

“You’re complicating things, Leeanne Faye. Can we just call it ‘Contract of Non-commitment’ ?”

“Aba... Oo nga no! Ang galing mo talaga Vano!”

“I know. So what about it?”

“Uhm... Wala naman pinapaalala ko lang.”

“Really. You intervened my dinner just to remind me of that stupid contract?”

“HAHAHA sorry na malay ko bang nakain ka. Eh kasi naman... Kasi nag-aalala ako para kay BB! Baka mamaya rapin mo sya kaya ayan, pinapaalalahanan na kita na bawal tayo magcommit unless CPA na tayo para hindi ka makadisgrasya. Pervert ka pa naman.”

“Okay. Bye.” Then I hung up.

I went back to the dinning room and Bella’s done eating.

“How come you’re done already?”

“I’m on diet.”

“Conscious as ever, Ms. Becina.”

“Will you quit that ever-ever thingy? It makes me lose my appetite. By the way, what’s with the sudden mood swing? You seem... exasperate.”

“Nothing.”

“Oh come on, Phil. Spill it. What did she say?”

“T’was nothing, really. She just reminded me of a stupid contract. I don’t even know what was running in my mind when I signed it. It’s freakin’ nonsense.”

“What kind of contract are you talking about?”

“She called it ‘Contract of Commitment’.”

“WHAT!? Are you two in a relationship? Why didn’t you tell...”

“If that’s the case then I’d be happy by now.”

“Huh? I don’t get it. What kind of Commitment are you referring to, then?”

“That’s why I suggested a new title for the contract. The freakin’ ‘Contract of Non-Commitment’.”

She paused for a while. I bet she’s thinking deeply.

“Oh I see. I think I know now.”

“I bet you do.”

“So...”

“Yeah. That’s the reason why Ivan the great is still single.”

“No. That’s the reason why Ivan torpebelibels cannot have the apple of his eyes.”

“Did you just call me torpe, Ms. Becina?”

“Yes I did, Mr. Corbez.”

I stared at her intently. She blushed. She really hates it when someone’s staring at her.

“Hey, you don’t fight fair.” She protested, frowning.

“I’m not torpe. You. Know. That.”

“Okay, fine.” She raised her arms signifying her defeat.

“You, getting me busted back then, doesn’t give you the right to...”
