.Stella.

“Hey Calum, Michael,” I greet, going back to help Darcy in the kitchen.

They mumble back some sort of greeting, eyes fixed on the television airing last week’s episode of Supernatural. I quietly laugh, knowing Luke must have forced them into watching it after I forced him to.

“Sorry about that.” I apologize, coming to a stop in front of Darcy’s countertop.

“Nothing to worry about,” she brushes away my comment before gesturing to the cutting tray behind her. “But the vegetables aren’t going to cut themselves.”

I nod my head obediently, taking my place next to her. I begin to chop the cucumber carefully, avoiding my fingers like any sane person would.

“So, you and Ashton, huh?” Darcy chuckles quietly as I stutter, my face a ruby red color.

“Uh, I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Oh come on, the sexual tension is obvious.” She cackles after my jaw drops.

“I’ll come back later.” Ashton splutters, turning to exit the kitchen before Darcy interrupts him.

“What do you need, dear?”

“I was wondering if you have any ibuprofen,” he explained, gesturing to his arm, “my arm’s getting sore again and I should be able to take some more by now.”

“Of course,” she fluttered around the kitchen, opening cabinets until finding the bottle she was looking for. “Here you are, sweetheart.” She held out two round tablets and a glass of water she had accumulated.

“Thanks Darcy,” he shot her his trademark grin as his dimples popped out of his cheeks. He quickly gulped his water, setting it down and picking up the two pills before downing them with the clear liquid.

“Oi, Ashton, if your arm’s hurting then why don’t you wear your sling?” Luke grumbled, waving the blue fabric in the air as Ashton sheepishly grins up at the giant we call our friend.

“Because it’s fu-freaking annoying.” He cut himself off as soon as Darcy shot him a glare, holding out his good hand in mock surrender.

“Ashton, put on the damn sling.” Luke speaks through gritted teeth.

“No.” Ashton pouts, attempting to cross his arms over his chest.

“Please?” Luke whines, pouting his eyes and playing with his lip ring as Ashton’s façade begins to crumble.

“Give it here.” Ashton finally gives in, holding out his good hand for the blue fabric.

“Hey Stel,” Luke turns the focus away from Ashton. “What are you doing tonight?”

“Nothing besides this, why?”

“Want to come and have a sleepover?” He asks, giving me his infamous puppy dog eyes.

“I don’t know.” I hesitate, subtly glancing over to Ashton as he struggles with his sling.

“Please Stel? The guys can get to know you,” he lowers his voice before continuing, “and Ashton would really like it.”

“Damn you.” I murmur, knowing I would be going simply for Ashton.

“Here that Ash?” Luke cheered, throwing his arm over my shoulder and tugging me to the curly haired lad. “Stel here is going to be joining us for a sleepover tonight.”

“Really?” He asks, his eyes shining as his grin widened.

“Really.” I confirm, attempting to fight the fluttering in my stomach when his trademark dimples appeared.

What did I just agree to? I silently ask myself as I watch Luke try to help Ashton, who had manage to get his leg stuck in the sling somehow. I shook my head, going back to cut the vegetables as the two boys swears were made audible to the entire house.

“Damn it Ash, how did you get your leg stuck in an arm sling, douchecanoe.”

“Thanks for having me over, Darcy, it was lovely.” I hug her, stifling a yawn as she smiles.

“It was my pleasure, Stella. Now go have fun, but not too much fun. I know what kids get up to nowadays.” She wiggled her eyebrows, motioning to Ashton who was currently chugging some sort of energy drink as the guys continue to chant chug, chug, chug under their breath, much to Darcy’s dismay.

“Darcy!” I gasp, hiding my pink face behind my hands.

“Don’t ‘Darcy!’ me,” she scolds, laying a finger on her hip.

“Sorry ma’am,” I mutter, embarrassed merely from her tone.

“Now go and have fun, but- well, you know the rest.” She gently pushed me to where Ashton was bouncing on the balls of his feet beside Luke as Michael and Calum had already left.

“You ready?” Luke asks, already walking out the door before I could reply.

“Asshat.” I mumble under my breath, jumping when a familiar giggle began next to my ear.

“Damn it, Ashton.” I sigh, my right hand still holding my rapidly beating heart.

“Oops?” He giggles, grabbing my hand and towing me to the car.

A seemingly short car ride later and we were standing in front of the oh-so-familiar apartment complex with Ashton’s arm slung over my shoulders. The entire scenario was laced with déjà vu from all the nights I had driven him home from the bar he had weaseled his way into.

“C’mon.” Ashton whined, grabbing my hand and dragging me to the door labeled 203 where Luke was waiting by the open door.

“So what are we going to do?” I ask as soon as I’m squished between a quickly-crashing Ashton and a semi-normal Calum.

“We want to get to know you better,” Calum announced. “So we’re going to play 20 strange questions.”

“Strange questions?”

“20 questions total, but none of the stupid ‘favorite color’ crap.” Michael explains from the chair adjacent to the couch I’m on.

“Alright, I guess…”

“Normally we would all have five questions, but I think Luke’s willing to give up three of his own,” Calum starts, looking to Luke for agreement, “so now, let’s begin.”

“I have one,” Michael piped in. “Why are you friends with Luke?”

“His awkwardness was endearing. I felt obligated to befriend him.” I giggle as Luke’s mouth drops open in mock surprise as the boys’ loud guffaws echo around the room.

“Nice to know you only talked to me out of pity.” Luke rolls his eyes, sending me a fake glare.

This is going to be a long night.
