Regulus Black was dying.

He knew that, and like most people, he recalls everything he had done with his life ーand othersー during his last few moments. Most were full of regret; he regretted not running away with Sirius, he regretted being a Death Eater, he regretted not realizing the Hocruxes sooner. Tears welled up in his eyes as his breath shorten. He realized in his last breath, there were indeed lots of things he regretted and a few he did not too.

He definitely didn't regret getting drunk that one night and met the love of his life. Her beauty was insanely mesmerizing. He remembered his presence scared her at first but it would be lying if he said he wasn't mesmerized by her presence. He didn't regret defying his blood purity principle because his love for her is stronger than that. Stronger than his hatred. He didn't regret risking his life by having her in his life. He didn't regret his feeble attempts of starting a new life with her.

     Regulus Black was dying.

And in his last breath, he thought of his lover, bearing his child he could never meet.

Olivia Cortland rubbed her belly when she heard the news of Regulus' death. She knew it was coming, he warned her before. But even so, she couldn't help herself but feel depressed. She lost her lover, after all.

She is still young. Losing a lover is correspondingly tragic but that doesn't scare her as much as the fact that she will be raising a child on her own. She is still young.

It pains her to think about the baby she's carrying. It pains her even more to know that her child would not know how brave, intelligent and kind her father is.

She continued rubbing her belly, whispering soothing words to herself.
"It's okay," she repeated, trying very hard to believe in her own words.

"It's a girl!" beamed the nurse as she carefully return the baby to her mother's embrace. The baby was a crying fit and finally managed to stop after almost fifteen minutes. Olivia smiled tiredly, exhaustion took over her actions. However, the moment she looked over the baby in her arms, she didn't want to let go.

She is holding her daughter. Just the thought of it warms her heart throughly. The baby had her blue eyes but instead of her blonde locks, the baby had brown hair. Just like the father, just like Regulus.

Her thoughts were disturbed when the baby stirred in her arms. The nurse, who was holding a registration card, asked, "What are you going to name her, madam?"

Olivia chuckled. "Her name'll be Ruthelle. Ruthelle Cortland."
