First of all Harry wouldn't have been put with the Dursley's. Honestly Dumbledore knew that they were bad people he could have easily sent him somewhere else.
Second, Harry would have talked to Dumbledore about the stone and everything would be ok.
That's it. That is literally ALL that needed to happen for Harry to have a good year.
