"Livia, why don't you get to know some eligible bachelors at this party," my mum said pointing at some men in suits that were laughing. My mum had been planning my wedding since I was six. She started pestering me about this since I turned twenty.

"Mum, please!" I replied in disgust.

Why couldn't she just leave me! Seriously! And you wouldn't how bad it was. She would call me out to the garden for tea and show me some men's photos.

I didn't want to get married. I had tried so many times to get that into her head, but it just seemed to be evaporating from my mother's hot head!

"Okay! Okay! I wouldn't disturb you... for now," mother rushed off to some other mothers.

Just then i felt a presence at my back and turned around to see my bestest friend in the entire world, Andre. 

"Andre?!" I exclaimed. "You're here!"

"Why would I miss my best friend's parent's anniversary?!" he asked.

I shook my head and laughed. Andre had always been a clown. No! Let me put it this way. Andre was the sugar in my tea, the spice in my chinese rice. He added flavour to... everything!

He would even make his pants dance off if it weren't stuck to his body.

"I'm thirsty, would you like something?" he asked.

"Yeah! Maybe some of the usual..." I replied.

"Sure! The usual," he winked and ran off.

Mother came back again and dragged me towards a crowd of ladies who were looking anxious to see me.

"This is my daughter, Livia," she introduced.

One lady said to me, "A pleasure meeting you... Livia,"

"A pleasure meeting you too," I curtsied.

She smiled.

I smiled back and left. "Excuse me!"

For one, I hate being crowded, I just...hate it!

I was shocked when Andre jumped right in front of my face with two glasses of whiskey in his hands.

He handed me a glass and took a sip from his. I took the glass and drank the whole thing in one gulp. I stared into the horizon, looking at my mother going from crowd to crowd...to crowd.

"What's wrong Livia?" he asked in curiosity.

"Nothing!" I was still staring at my mother!

Andre waved his hands in front of my face which made my snap out of it.

"Yes?" I asked.

"What's going on?" he asked once more in a calmer tone with his hands on my shoulders.

"I just... mum just gets on my nerves, about the marrying stuff!" I look into his sky blue eyes. "It's just that... i don't want this marriage stuff, i don't want to the married Andre!"

He grasped my shoulders and looked at me. "Calm down Liv, don't worry, she'll understand,"

He then went back to his hilarious tone. "Cheers?" he held up his glass.

"Cheers!" I grabbed another drink from a waiter and we clunked our drinks together!

ANDRE

We clunked our drinks together and took a sip.

This time she didn't drink it all at once, this time she took it sip by sip. I looked at her as I drank and saw how distant her eyes was, she was a deep thinker!

When we were done with our glasses, a waiter came along and we dropped our glasses on the silver tray.

Livia was my best friend since childhood, so that's why I could tell when she was sad, happy, worried, depressed and so many others.

Livia was looking quite happy, her grin was a little small but I knew she was happy.

I didn't want her to worry again so I grabbed her hand and ran onto the dance floor. "May I have this dance?" I asked her in a french tone. 

"Well of course," she laughed. We danced a slow dance, in the party there was no hip hop music or pop and rock but there was classical, only classical!

As long as I was dancing with Livia, anything would fit.

And besides, I was looking dashing in my suit!

As we danced Livia's beautiful iris dress seemed to sweep the crowd off their feet as it glistened in the moonlight. It felt like it was only us. Only us!

I shined my bright white teeth on Livia and she shined hers. 

To me, she was more than a best friend but I just didn't know if she felt the same.
