Once there was a small, poor village deep within a flourishing forest that contained many species of animals. Under an old, dying oak tree stump lived a young, pure black fox kit who had the most beautiful ocean blue eyes, but even though he was happy with the way he lived in his small home. He was still very lonely since all of his family members died a long time ago. Still the black kit tried to stay positive through it all.

Finally school started and the black kit got ready for school, after he finished brushing his big, fluffy tail with a small broken comb, he dashed through the leaf door and ran through the lush green grass and healthy trees. While he was looking at an otter that was trying to catch a blue, twirling dandelion bud. He didn't see the oncoming shadow coming towards him.’Crash!’ all of a suddenly the fox kit was on the cold, dirt floor, small bits of rock and branches digging into his skin causing little prickles of pain.

“Hey watch where you're going!” growled a deep, dark voice. Slowly The black fox kit looked up into deep, silver gray eyes that shone with malice in them. Standing before him was a huge lion that had pure white fur and mane. The lion was baring its sharp pointy fangs at him in anger. “I'm sorry!” He squeaked out, curling into a small ball of fur. “Ha just look at you. Your such a wimpy, poor kit of fur, this is going to be a fun year!” The Lion laughed, turning around with a vicious smirk on its face and walking off to school.

Day after day the lion would beat and hurt the kit mentally over and over again. Until finally the fox kit grew so insecure that he couldn't trust anyone or look them in the eye. This went on for many years and it grew worse and worse. Soon every animal in the school started to bully the little kit by pushing him in the hall or tripping him in class. Still he kept his head up and smiled, not letting up on that they will change and be kind to him one day.

On a early morning were the land was covered in blankets of freshly fallen snow. The little fox kit was getting of to school when he ran into something big and black. “Ahhh” he yelped out before falling to the ground, but before he hit the cold floor he was caught by black talons. He flinched expecting the talons to all of a suddenly to sink into this fur and stain it red with his blood, but instead they gently let go when he got on his feet safely. When he glanced up for a moment he was shocked because standing before him was a large, raven with crimson red eyes. “Are you okay?” The raven asked looking down at the kit it ran into when it was looking for the new school it was going to. “I'm fine” The kit yipped looking up at the raven with a small smile on its muzzle as the sun began to rise making the raven’s feathers glow an eerie dark purple color.

Since that day the fox would always be seen with the raven, even when the lion tried to break their friendship up by starting cruel rumors about them or causing a big scene with them getting pushed around. Then one day something changed, that broke the fox’s spirit. While they were walking to school like always they were intercepted by the lion, who had a nasty look on its face.

“ Hey birdbrain, come after school to the back building or you'll regret it” the lion sneered before walking off towards the school with the threat hanging in the air. Throughout the whole entire day the fox was worrying consistently over his friends safety, but the raven just brushed it of not fearing what the lion could do. Soon the school day ended and like promised the raven went to the assigned area with the kit following behind it. When they got there all they saw was big dead looking trees, but no lion. Then all of a suddenly there was a huge roar and the lion jumped out from behind a bush and attacked the fox kit, but before it could land a hit. The raven spun around and held up its wings shielding the kit from harm. ‘Crunch’ the fox twirled around to see the raven on the snow covered floor holding its wing close to its body.

“Hump, that's what you get for being around this creepy, poor pathetic kit” the lion snorted out running off into a different direction, leaving the two all alone in the fallen snow. “It's all my fault” the fox thought as it stood there in complete silence, “I shouldn't exist at all.”

The very next day when the raven went to school with its wing wrapped it found out that the fox wasn't there at all. It got a bad feeling and went off trying to find the kit before something happens. It found the kit on top of a cliff that was covered in dandelions and snow. “Fox!” It yelled out hopping towards the fox kit. The kit turned around to see his friend coming towards him, but when he saw the wing he felt a jolt of pain and grief shoot through him. “DON’T COME NEAR ME!” He screamed with all his might, “PLEASE I DON'T WANT TO BE A BURDEN TO YOU ANYMORE!”

“You're not a burden” the raven whispered out coming closer to the fox. “Don't try to stop me” the fox pleaded his eyes glowing with determination as he got ready to jump. “I'm not going to besides when you're this determined its hard to change your mind about it, but instead of jumping on your own let's jump together.”The raven whispered as he jumped off with the fox.

Little did they know that the lion was watching the whole thing and it had small tears running down its face. “I'm sorry” it whispered as it ran and jumped off the cliff too falling to its death. All of a suddenly a black blur shot up into the sky and flew off into the mountains holding a bundle of something in its black talons as its crimson red eyes narrowed in relief.
