Dear Diary,
Today me and my sister Ally worked on our to get to Canada. Last night we left Madam's house and ran for it. It was risky but we did it. Thankfully tomorrow is Sunday the slaves day off so she won't notice we are gone till Monday. All had heard about the underground railroad and she found out where one of the safe houses were.
When we escaped we ran there right away when we got there our legs were sore. We knocked on the door and a lady opened the door and invited us in. She knew we were runaways and gave us food. She had two children a son and a daughter. They didn't look at us like most white kids did.
Their eyes were filled with joy. It looked as if they were glad we were there. We talked to them and they talked back. They didn't ignore us. We all started playing games. Then eventually we all got tired. The woman lead us into the attic. The room wasn't like our bedroom at home. They had beds and looked amazing.
Today early in the morning the woman lead us to the next safe house. The people were an young couple with a baby girl. They gave us lunch and dinner. Me and Ally helped look after Sarah the baby girl. She was very calm. They even let us play in their backyard. We are sitting in the bed now this room is just as good as the other one was.
Ally is already asleep. I've been trying but it's been hard. This is amazing we escaped. We really escaped. I can't wait till we get to Canada. That's when we will really be free. Away from the slave catchers and Madam
