"Sometimes I'm terrified of my heart; of its constante hunger for whatever it is it wants. The way it stops and starts."

- Edgar Allan Poe

Prologue:

The cresent moon glowed through the window as Luna pulled her black cloak over her back. She opened up the secret compartment to her jewlery box pulling out the silver dagger. The moon reflected off of the dagger illuminating the room with its light.  A folded piece of parchment paper lay under the dagger. The note had been stashed there to keep from prying eyes. She knew all to well about the consciences if it were found.  Not just for her but for him as well. Her hands skimmed over the note.

It was creased and rumpled from being opened and closed multiple times. Before she could overthink it she stashed the dagger and the note under her cloak. With a watchful eye she stepped out of the small space and walked to the road.

She pulled the cloak hood over her head shadowing her face. No need for anyone to recognize her. She circled the block twice- learning the hard way that you can never be too careful-  to make sure she wasn't being followed. Then she headed towards the address that was written on the note.

Luna stood in front of the hidden, rundown house glancing around incase she was followed. Of course he would want to meet here. She should have guessed it but of course she was so surprised that she even received the note. She never considered if it was fake or even a set up. It crossed her mind on the way here but now that she'd actually seen the location she knew that this was not a set up.

She climbed up the old creaky steps, wincing at every creak, then pushed through the large white door.

The smell of burnt wood and mold overwhelmed her nose and she wrinkle it in disgust.  She made her way to the staircase not questioning whether it was still stable or not. White paint peeled off the railings at her finger tips fluttering to the floor like snow.

Reaching the top floor she opened the door to a large patio. She closed the door behind her and walked towards the edge. It surprised her how she knew where to go after all this time.

I guess some things just never fade away.

She thought staring out at the starless night. The clouds hung low this evening and a cold breeze flowed through the icy air.

''Luna.'' His voice was like velvet as he said her name. She didn't jump nor look back. He didnt scare her any more. Nothing really did. ''Your late.'' She said wiping around to face him knowing deep down how badly she wanted to see his face.

He was closer then I she expected. Not like you mind it. The voice at the back of her head pressed on but she hid the emotion dying to come out. He grinned and she crossed her arms over her chest. ''So what did you want me for?" Luna asked getting frustrated.

''I wanted to see how you were doing.'' He said putting his hands in his pockets and leaned against the wall.

''I've been better. Now what do you really want?''

''Luna, I was being serious. How are you doing?'' He asked looking her in the eye. She couldn't bear it. Those eyes always held her captive always dared her for more. A blush formed her pale cheeks but she quickly hid it with a scowl. ''You really want to know? Fine... I've spent most of my days training and working, but at least it keeps my mind busy. Then when I'm in bed my mind clears and all I think about is why you left. So if that is all you wanted to know I'll be leaving now.'' She snapped anger coursing through her small frame as she tried stepping past him.

He stepped infront of her blocking her escape to the door. ''Oh I almost forgot. Since we are here talking about how you left me, would you like to explain why?'' It sounded more like a demand then a question but thats what she was going for. Fine if he wouldn't let her leave then he might as well start talking.

He stared at her a moment. She new he was hurt, but he deserved it. I was hurt once too.

"I am what I am and you are what you are. We come from two different sides of this war. There is nothing you can do to stop it." He said sorrow lining his words. She rolled her eyes in frustration ignoring his tone. "That is what you think."

"That is what I know." He said simply a small grin forming his lips. He came here with all the confidence in the world knowing he would win this. Luna faced the edge of the patio and rested her arms on the railing. "You dont know anything." She muttered but she new it wasnt true.

He new everything about anything when it came down to this kind of stuff. It annoyed her to the bone that he wouldn't explain anything to her. Most of it was about her anyways, so shouldn't she have the right to know?

Sighing, he came and stood beside her. We stared out at the thin cresent moon in silence. "You know you only have a month left right." He muttered under his breath.

She closed her eyes and breathed in deaply. "Yes, I know..."

"You're not ready. I can feel it." He said his eyes grazing over her. She opened her mouth to speak then closed it again. He was absolutly right. She was not ready and she would never be ready.

"Why me?" She croked tears forming in the corners of her eyes blurring her vision slightly. She glanced up at him and that was all it took for him to break the wall of ice between them. As soon as he saw the fear in her eyes he pulled her into his embrace.

He wrapped his arms around her back and she pressed her clenched hands into his chest and rested her head against his muscular build. There was nothing more she wanted in this world for this moment to last forever. Our breaths and our hearts met as one. We were like two puzzle pieces molded perfectly together and nothing could ever break us apart.

He pulled away but only to tilt her chin up towards his face. He studied her for a moment frowning like he was conjuring up some sort of excuse in his mind. Then before he could regret it he pulled her close and pressed his lips to hers.

She just stood there shocked but finally got a hold of herself and kissed him back. He kissed her tenderly their lips moving as one. She coursed her fingers through his brown hair as he pushed her against the railing.

He pulled away slightly his lips still lingering on hers and muttered, ''Now we are in trouble.'' She smiled then pulled him back to her.
