"Zach can we please play a game?" Zach sighed. "No Evie, I have homework. Evie crossed her arms. "No you don't." She was right, Zach had finished his homework over an hour ago. "Please, just one game on Candyland." Zach groaned. "Fine, just one game, Ok?" Evie squealed and scampered to get the game. Somehow Evie had managed to make one game into two hours. When they had finally finished playing, Zach went to bed.

The next morning, Zach went to school. In first period, his teacher talked about the events coming up. Zach felt a wave of pride. He had planned these events. Eighth grade dance, cookie fundraiser, field trip to the museum, take your little sister or brother to school day. Wait, what! Zach didn't remember that. He was about to ask a question about it when the bell rang. He decided it could wait and all through the day he wondered who had planned that particular event. At the end of sixth period, their teacher reminded them that take your sibling to school day was tomorrow! Zach was shocked. He couldn't bring Evie to school! She would embarrass him.

"Please Zach? With whipped cream, sprinkles, and a cherry on top?" "No," Zach said. He didn't want Evie to go to school with him.

"Zach, dear what's happening tomorrow at school?" Zach grumbled. "What?" Zach's mother asked. Zach growled,"Take your little sibling to school day." "Oh," Zach's mother said, "You should tell Evie." She was smiling. "I already did."

Later that night, Zach took an unwanted trip to Evie's room. "Look Evie, you can't embarrass me,ok?" Evie looked at him with her big blue eyes. "Why?" " Because" Zach said exasperated, "It'll make me look bad." "So... you don't want me to go with 'cause it will make you look bad in front of all your friends."

Zach sighed. Evie was right. How could a five year old be so smart? "Fine, you can come." Evie squealed and started to jump on her bed. "She's off the wall." Zach grumbled.

The next day, Evie was surprisingly quiet. In first period, they were reviewing and Evie actually answered a question. She got a compliment from the teacher. In PE, she did 100 jumping jacks!  But in fifth and sixth, she was too quiet. Zach barely noticed. He was too wrapped up in himself and trying to prove he was smarter than his five year old sister. He barely noticed here slip away.

He ran to the bus, supposing Evie was next to him. All the younger kids were instructed to sit in the back of the bus so Zach thought Evie went to sit with her friends. Later when Zach got off the bus, Evie didn't get off with him. He didn't notice though.

As soon as he opened the door, he realized that she wasn't with him.  "Mom! Evie's gone!" "What!" Zach's mother screeched. "What happened?!" She ran up to Zach, questioning. "I don't know..."
