Prologue

The dark figure stood at the edge of the Sakamaki mansion, silently watching his target.
He smiled, she was laughing and playing the piano for her brothers.

"Fools." he muttered, "did you really think I wouldn't find out, that you could hide her from me." he chuckled darkly. "No matter, this time tomorrow all your happiness will have been sucked away." with that, he disappeared into the night.

**time skip to next day**
Y/n POV

"Hurry up Ayato! We're losing her!" Subaru yelled over his shoulder. I glanced back and giggled, Ayato was panting and using the wall to hold himself up, Subaru had stopped chasing me to yell at him.

I used this opportunity to dash to my room and hide under the bed. "Dammit we lost her!" I could hear Subaru's voice from outside, "Well if you hadn't stopped to yell at me, we would have caught her by now!" Ayato yelled back. I put my hands over my ears, I didn't like when my brothers fought, especially Shu and Reiji but that couldn't be helped. I let out a loud sigh and immediately regretted it. It went quiet in the hallway, and footsteps approached my room. I clapped my hands over my mouth to prevent further sound.

The door opened and two sets of feet appeared. It was quiet for a while and I thought they left, then there was a flash of red and green and I let out a squeal. "Hah! I told you big brother would win!" I was now sitting in Ayato's lap on the bed, I folded my arms and began to pout, "No fair! We said no vampire powers!" they smirked, "Yes, and then you teleported to the music room right after we said that." Subaru pointed out. I blushed, "Fine, you win." Ayato laughed, "Which means?" I gulped, "Do I have to?"
"Yes." they said in unison. I sighed and went to look for the best china.

**a few broken teacups later**

"Y/n!" Reiji yelled, I winced and went into his room, "What is it Reiji?" I asked, trying to look innocent. "Don't look at me like that, what happened here?!" I sighed, "I may have lost a bet against Ayato and Subaru but-" "AYATO, SUBARU GET IN HERE!" I put a hand on his arm, "Did you forget your promise?" I asked.

"..." he stayed quiet.

"You promised me no fighting today remember?" by now the others were there, probably wondering about the noise. They all watched Reiji carefully, he sighed, "Let's get downstairs then," he smiled at me, "we have a birthday to celebrate." everyone cheered and I was happy.

I felt like the luckiest girl in the world, my brothers loved me and I them, they would probably fight again tomorrow but for now, everything was perfect. WAS. I felt a sharp pain go through me and I fell to the floor. I felt someone catch me and I saw concerned faces floating above me. They were saying things but I couldn't hear them, I wanted to scream but I couldn't form the sound. The only thing I could do was watch their worried faces, Shu, Reiji, Ayato, Laito, Kanato, Subaru. My family, my brothers. Finally I was able to let out a blood curdling scream and then my whole world went dark.
