The day was just beginning for the northern tribes, wolves scattered across the mountains and hills, sleeping soundly. Though, there was mass movement in the land. An omega by the name of Akal had been bounding across the sleet stones, prodding over whatever lay in his way. Akal wasn't like the other omegas, or even wolves. He was too curious, too.. adventurous to even be considered a wolf. Too small maybe? In his pack, he was Akal the jackal, born a wolf, seen as a jackal, Not the best life i suppose.
"Etsi', Etsi; Look at me!" Akal called to a wolf across from him.
He had pounced onto his hind-legs, standing like one of the trees, his tongue, lolled to the side of his mouth. The large female laughed, waking some of her pack-mates up.
"Now what in the world gave you that idea, Akal?" she'd ask calmly, chuckling softly.
"The trees." The omega replied, falling onto all fours.
"The trees? Akal, you know trees don't grow in the pack-lands, have you been close to South-pack territory?" Akal's mother asked, narrowing her eyes as she stood to her feet quickly.
"Well.. kinda." He replied looking down.
Akal's mother sighed, her eyes closed as she shook her head. "Akal, you know you're not aloud down there. If a wolf from the southern tribes found you, you would be their meal."
Akal stood there, silent for a few moments; "I know, i know.. i just wish there was a way to share the land!" He protested loudly.
A wolf snarled before standing, "Thats it, i'm up."
Akal's mother looked at the wolf sternly. "Giga, you know akal is young, he cant control the way he barks."
Giga sighed heavily, "i understand, Iya, but you can't keep protecting him. He isn't a pup for much longer." The timber wolf barked sternly, walking off.
"Some wolves just don't understand you dear," Iya said, turning to Akal.
Akal looked to her, confusion flowing heavily in his eyes; "Why not?" He asked padding closer.
"You think differently from the pack, its what makes you 'Udanvgalvda' my dear, Akal." Iya said pushing her nose down to his.
"Thank you 'Etsi'!" Akal nodded, beginning to pad off.
"Now go off, see to ugula, He has work for you!" Iya called to him.
The sun was beginning to bounce higher into the sky, Akal looked around him, opening his jaws slightly to taste the air. When he had reached his destination, otherwise ugula, he smiled, dipping his head. There was a line of other wolves, retrieving border patrol duty, and where to look out. It had finally come, after what seemed like days to Akal, he could finally retrieve his orders.
"Ah, Akal!" Ugula said, dipping his head respectfully.
"Ugula, Is there any work to be done today? I'm excited to help the pack!" Akal howled, bounding in circles.
Ugula laughed, calming the pup; "Yes Akal, Now, whats a task that could be.. challenging..?" Ugula asked nodding down, as if the two where sharing secrets.
"Fighting Southpack!" Akal whispered, looking off onto the green-lands.
"No, no. Akal, thats easy, Southpack are a bunch of pups anyways, we have no interest in fighting them.
Akal sighed, then looked up to ugula, "Cleaning out the elders bedding and fetching them food sounds hard." Akal suggested.
Ugula looked down at him, "That sounds like a wonderful idea Akal, I'm glad you look out to our 'Udvsonvhis'. "
Akal dipped his head, "I bet i can do it faster than any of the other pups!" He smirked, running off.
The young omega sprinted across the land, overhead, stood a large tree, a gap through the center this tree was known as 'The tree of Igohida Unole' Or, 'Tree of wind' It was old, An artifact of the past, it constantly made a soft whistling sound, from the breeze that blew from the hollowed holes. Its said that the whistling, is the howling of dead ancestors.
Akal bowed before the massive tree, honoring the dead, and living elders. he padded inside quietly, the elders argued over which dead ancestor was howling.
"Hush it! I know its Jay whos howlin'!" a dark pelted elder growled.
"How ya' so sure? It can be anyone, Yonu!" A female elder would snort, nipping at Yonu's paws.
"Excuse me? I'm sorry, Kolanu! But im positive its jay, His howls always used to be this low." Yonu would smile.
"I think we should just respect the dead, if its them howling or not." Akal would laugh, pulling the moss from under Kolanu.
"I suppose you're right, Akal." Yonu grunted, "Make sure when you clean mine out ex-"
"Extra water, i know. Need to keep your fur hydrated more often. Wait- Yonu?" Akal asked, stopping mid phrase.
"Yes, Akal?" Yonu responded in question, moving for him to replace the bedding.
"Why don't you and Kolanu head over to the pond outside The tree of Igohida Unole? That way, you guys can get hydrated and stuff... and i can clean your bedding?" Akal offered, hoping for some alone time with one of the older, wiser elders.
"That sounds just wonderful, Akal. I'm sure Kolanu would enjoy stretching her legs." Yonu smiled, standing to his paws.
Akal made sure the other elders had left before grabbing the dampened moss, setting it where the imprints of Yonu and Kolanu had been. When he finished he walked to a darker area of the hollow.
"G-Gogv..?" Akal asked.
A massive shape stood before him, The figure was dark, its eye shone yellow, while the other one was scared over, his muzzle was a dark brown color.
"Yes, Akal..?" His voice was deep.
Akal gulped, "Why do our pack-mates dislike me? Or think i'm different..?" He asked, looking into the eye of Gogv.
"You're special, little one. You hold power, the power of not knowing. If everyone knew everything, the world would be boring. Wolves like you make it interesting, But the other wolves don't see that about you. Only those who truly believe in you, will." Gogv answered.
"i understand.." Akal replied; "Must i clean your bedding and fetch you something to eat?" Akal asked.
"My bedding is fine, Awi helped me with it yesterday. Any Utsati left?" Gogv asked, walking out from the entrance of the hollow, Akal followed behind.
"Yes, trout is low though." Akal mentioned.
"Very well, Please Dodiskvsi Trout." Gogv decided.
Akal nodded, running to the pile of kill outside The tree of Igohida Unole, He grabbed a trout before returning to Gogv.
"Wado." Gogv thanked.
"Gvlieliga" Akal replied padding off.
