Sleep Issues

Once upon a starry London night...

I was lying in my surprisingly comfy hotel bed. It was like lying on a princes mattress made of cotton clouds as white as my teeth. Now for readers wondering why this is surprising, well. Of the many might I say magnificent holidays me and my fellow family have been on, we tend to focus on the daily parts of the holiday, rather than the night, meaning the days where filled with fun, laughter and you know, good vibes. But however, when night fell, we each had to sleep on mattresses that felt like they where made from concrete. Yes, you can imagine how comfy they where. Not so much.

So, there I was, lying, slowly trying to gracefully fall asleep. Now for some people, falling asleep is natural to them, like second nature. I admire those people, with great awe, because when ever I try to fall asleep, it don't come easy man. I know I'm not the only one, and for the people who are floating in the same boat as me, I'm sorry.  Truly I am. It's like I am having a war with my mind, I'm constantly telling it's marvellous self to trying it's self on stand by mode, so I can actually rest. You see, the thing about my mind is that, it is very overactive. My imagination is always flowing, like a waterfall. However at night it seems to overflow and create a flood of ideas and the like. So you can imagine the struggle.

However this wasn't my only issue, oh no.

Apart from my overly active brain, I had an unexpected visit from the Sith Lord Darth Vader, in all his greatness. Aka, my dad. His breathing sounded exactly like Vader's breath mask. You can imagine the noise. I felt like I was in A New Hope, being interrogated by Vader's breathing. I couldn't think of anything worse. Frozen in carbonite sounds much better. At least I can rest for a while.

That was all the issues acknowledge, I thought, but oh how wrong I was. I got my hopes up too soon.

Just as everything started to quiet down, an extremely excited and stupidly noisy family walked by the brightly lit corridor outside, like a heard of elephants. However what was worse, they where our unknown neighbours, well unknown until now. They slammed the door behind them, heavy handed, not good. They where laughing and singing songs from what I could hear, a musical. I assumed they where drunk as they had no control or awareness of their volume. All I wanted to do was to go and turn each of their mute buttons on, if they had any.

Eventually after, let's say twenty, and then we could say thirty minutes. The neighbours room fell quiet. Silence.

Silence on this night was golden. Priceless.

(well apart from the traffic outside, but that's London for you, always awake)

And in conclusion after hours and hours and hours of grin and bearing.

I finally fell asleep.

The end

P.S: I wonder if London would like to sleep, the city must be so tried and fed up of the constant noise. Good night.
