He looked over at Love, "Why does everyone hate me?," he cried. "Am I not good enough? Did I do something wrong?," He broke into a sob. Love gently patted his back and frowned.
"I don't know... You've done nothing wrong," Love assured him, gazing off into the distance.
Love's comment lifted his spirits a bit, yet tears still flowed out of his eyes, rolling down his cheeks. The older of the two focused his gaze on the younger boy and quickly pulled him into a tight embrace. He silently sobbed into Love's soft sweater, wetting the fabric, Love rubbed circles into his back, in hopes of comforting the young boy.
After practically soaking through Love's sweater, he calmed down a little, setting his head on the confidant's shoulder. He then looked up at the nebulae and distant, unknown galaxies as feelings of wonder and amazement rushed through his body. "Maybe someday people will like me," he muttered to himself, glancing over at Love.
Love once again set his gaze onto the boy, this time his hazel-colored eyes, he didn't exactly hear what the other had said, but decided not to question it. He sighed, wishing that the poor boy could be happy for once, he wasn't the terrible person that others made him out to be.
They both stared off into the night sky, both in awe of the beauty that the universe held and wondering just what else it may hold. If only the world was as beautiful as it looked, both thought, though that could never happen, and somewhere deep beneath their fantasy-filled dreams, they both knew this.
As Love continued to think deeply while staring off into space, the boy on his shoulder had drifted off to sleep, which Love had noticed due to the light snores now escaping him, still leaning against him. He peered over and his expression immediately softened at the sight of the sleeping boy, he looked at peace as his chest continued to ever so slightly rise and fall. The older gently placed his head atop the younger's and closed his eyes, breathing in the fresh air that surrounded the two.
It was a rare, serene moment for the two males, but as did everything else, it faded away from the two right before their eyes as they drifted off into a peaceful slumber.
From that day forward, Love had promised himself to keep the boy, or rather adolescent, safe from the others. He couldn't bear to see him mistreated any longer, though he had no control over the situation.
