The planet burned once before just over 15 years ago, when the world was engulfed in the fires of war that brought the Earth and her dominant species to the attention to beings not of this world, eyes not unlike our own viewed our world from across the planes of time and space, peering through the void. Humanity was being watch, completely unknown to those minds that barely survived the great war.
With such superior strength and intelligence, these creatures looked upon our world from across the void of time with envious thoughts much like our own when viewing a person of immense wealth and power. Perhaps these creatures simply overlooked the possibility of peace among our species or perhaps they thought with a clear mind as they sent their armies across the stars to destroy the pathetic men that scurried around this world like rats through the trash on the city streets.
If these beings were indeed intent on simple conquest, humanity would stand as much a match as an ant to a boot but these creatures, these monstrous creatures had a certain plan in place, a sinister, diabolical plan that would spell the end of the life that exist on this small, luscious world that has attracted the eyes of such brutal, unfathomable alien lifeforms.
And while our ever so unstable world was on the brink of war yet again, we remained so preoccupied to ever think that from across the ethereal plane of existence, death was fast approaching, a plague of twisted flesh and warped metal closed in on our fragile, defenseless world, working as one mind with a single goal in mind, consumption. On a cold, silent evening in October, humanity would know the true face of the abyss as it crawled its way through the maw of the void.
