Tessa open her eyes to see the sun another day, she quickly took a walk to market so she could get some vegetables for her grandma

Tessa would always walk with her earplugs stuck to her ear listening to music all day, she loved music although there where no new songs for the past 19years.

"Grandma Im home"
Tessa would scream as she ran up the stairs
"Did you get milk"
Grandma would ask unlocking the doors
"so sorry grandma they have not had milk in 9 months now"
"oh no" she turns away in disappointment and walks back to her favorite sit

Tessa felt bad and walk to
"so tell me what is really out there behind the walls of this facility " Tessa asked as she sat on the floor close to grandma offering her some carrots
Grandma looked at the carrots and pushed them back to her.

Tessa always asked that question ever since she was 6years old and grand ma would never answer.

Tessa also asked her friends but they too never knew what was behind those walls.

"Tessa my child the world in no longer a safe place " grandma decided to provide answers today.

"there is a virus that has taken over our world, only the immune are still alive" grandma starts to cry as she hugs Tessa.

"Tessa if their is anyone who is out there, behind these walls that person is in danger" she said as she stands up walking towards the window with her head bowed.
"why, what would happen to them" Tessa asked
Grandma looks out the window
"the virus turned those people who where not immune into some kind of.............  Blood sucking and flesh eating monster, they are strong and they don't die easily"
"is mum one of them "Tessa asked.
Grandma remains silent.....
Tessa bows her head
"look I never want to see you go through that gate for any reason"
Grandma said to her.
"I've seen those things feed on my husband " grand ma starts crying again
"they eat grandpa " Tessa asked in fear.
"yes your grandpa risked is life for me and your mother"
"your mother was a strong woman and she always wanted to help, buy that was what killed her in this world if you try to help anyone................ You'll die" grandma said.
Tessa stood up and walked towards the window and asked "are those monsters gonna find us here "

"no no no,  never " grandma said
"the walls are so tall and strong no monster can come in here, and besides we have the military with us here to secure the gates "
" we are safe here sweetie, this is a new world for humanity ........... This is the new state"
Grandma said as she hugs Tessa tight.  "we are safe her"
