Jinora's POV:
I ran as fast as I could to the air temple entrance, I slid down the halls finally reaching my father's (Tenzin) room. I busted the door down with a air bending move I just learned. I saw a serious look on my father's face as he was discussing a matter with my mother. For a second I didn't know what to say but I couldn't hold my feelings in any longer.
"Dad! Why do I have to go away to an orphanage for 6 months?" I shouted.
"I already told you, I'm going to train Korra in the Earth Kingdom." Tenzin replied.
"What about Mom, Aunt Kya, Uncle Bumi, Meelo, and Ikki?" I said frustrated. Where are they going, while I'm at an orphanage? Huh, dad?!
"Sweetie this is very important. Your father is helping the avatar train, you should be honored." My mom said warmly. I sighed. Why? How could they do this to me?! I really don't understand them at all!
"If you really want to know why your the only one going to the orphanage, I'll tell you. But first let's all calm down before getting worked up. Ok?" Said Tenzin as he was trying to get me to reason with him.
"Fine..." I said with a huffy tone. A few minutes later after I had cooled my head off a little and my dad told me why he had the idea of putting me in the orphanage. He acknowledged I like to read and thought that I could maybe expand my education by experiencing different ways of learning in new styles in unique places. For a moment I was confused on how a orphanage was unique but all I really wanted was for him to not leave and train Korra in the Earth Kingdom.
-1 week later-
Korra, Tenzin, Mom, and the rest of my family were ready to go to the Earth Kingdom. They had packed their clothes and such the night before so they could leave early in the morning. I felt very depressed, I wouldn't be seeing my family for 6 months. Will I be lonely? Will I make any friends at the orphanage? Who knows.
-At the orphanage entrance-
After my dad dropped me off at the entrance of the orphanage I was welcomed by a dozen children who looked to be 7 or 8. I'm only 14 so I felt like I was about to be given a lot of responsibilities because I'm older.
Kai's POV:
SLAM! I heard a car door shut. I look down from where I was laying. Up in the old oak tree where it's usually quiet. I kept watching as I saw a girl step out of the car. She had short hair with a bun on one side of her head. I looked more closely and I realized she was a air bender just like me! I didn't know for sure but it was just a feeling.
"Hey Kai! Look there's a new girl!" Shouted a boy below me. I looked down and swiftly air bended my way smoothly to the ground. I taught myself that.
"Pretty impressive right?" I muttered to myself.
I stood their as the younger kids eyed the girl. She looked over whelmed, out of pity I took her hand an led her away from the tiny mob of children.
"I-I'm sorry! That was out of nowhere, I must have shocked you a little." I said shyly as my face turned a bright shade a red.
Jinora's POV:
I felt really overwhelmed with all the children surrounding me, when out of nowhere a boy who looked to be around my age took my hand and pulled me away from the kids.
"I-I'm sorry! That was out of nowhere, I must have shocked you a little." He said while slightly blushing.
"It's fine, no need to worry. You actually saved me out there, so thank you very much... By the way my name is Jinora. What's yours?" I said quickly. I've never really been good at talking to boys, so that's an issue I probably need to work on.
"My name is Kai, Um... would you like to be my friend? You look to be around my age so... Yeah... I-I'm 14..." He said softly.
"Yes! I would love to!" I answered happily.
Dialogue:
Kai: "So how old are you Jinora?"
Jinora: "I'm the same age as you, 14."
Kai: "...Jinora...What a pretty name..." He said flustered.
Kai and Jinora: *both blush*
