Alissa was headed to LA to visit the beach. She was in the back seat with her 15 year old brother James. "Dad I have to pee." James said to their father. "Well son we are almost to the house so you can pee when we get there."
Alissa was tired of hearing him say he had to pee because this was only the fifth time he said it! "James stop saying that! I'm 18 and don't need to here my little brother say he has to relieve himself." "Daaaad Alissa is being mean again." James whined. "Alissa be nice to your brother." her horrible stepmother Monica told her.
Alisa's mom has only been dead for a year and her father already had remarried. Monica wasn't anything like her mother. Her mother was sweet and caring and never hurt anyone. Alissa doesn't like to talk about her mom because it was a horrible tragedy.
Finally, after it felt like a hundred years, they arrived at the beach house. Alissa grabbed her things and ran to her room. When she got to her room she cried because the last time that she was there was when her mom was alive. Her mom would come and help her unpack and get settled. She missed her mother dearly. Alissa wiped her tears from her face and looked up to see her dad in the door way. "Sweetheart I know you miss her. Would you like me to help you unpack?" "No thanks dad. That was mine and mom's tradition." "Ok honey. I'll be downstairs starting to unpack." "Ok dad. I'll be down in a minute."
-20 minutes later-
Alissa was walking down the stairs when she heard Monica in the kitchen. "Hey Alissa! Will you help me get the kitchen unpacked?" "Sure Monica." "Thanks honey." "Don't call me that." "I can call you what I want to call you!" "No you can't!" "Hey, hey, hey what's all the fuss about?" her father asked entering the kitchen. "Nothing". Alissa said glaring over at Monica, "I was just leaving." Alissa's dad yelled at her as she walked out the door.
-1 hour later-
As Alissa walked on the board walk her phone rang. It was her dad. She just ignored it. "Hey aren't you going to answer that?" came a voice from behind her. Startled, Alissa turned around to see the most gorgeous boy in the world. He had brown hair and blue eyes. "I'm Josh. What's your name?" "Uhhhhhhh." "Uhhhhhhh? That's an amazing name." He laughed. "No umm sorry. It's Alissa." "Well hello Alissa. Nice to meet you." " Nice to meet you too Josh" "If you aren't busy tomorrow would you like to get lunch and head down to the carnival with me?" Josh asked blushing. "Um sure. What time?" "12:00?" "Ok!" "Great I'll pick you up!" Alissa wrote down her number and address on a piece of paper she had in her purse and handed it to Josh. "See you then Alissa." "See you then Josh."
As Alissa drove home she thought about what they would do on their date. She was so happy but when she got to her house and seen the red and blue lights flashing over her house, everything changed.
