Smoker

21 1 1

At first, my lungs burned with rejection
I felt confined, as if I was suffocating
I cried out in desperation

Over time, they surrendered to my deadly addiction
Weakly complying,
No longer fighting
I inhaled the warm poison,
Watching as it lazily curled around me and rose
One day my body would succumb to it
My soul gave up a long time ago
This is what I wanted
It was slowly killing me
And I smiled bitterly
Deafening silence consumes me with ashes and desolation
I'll smoke my organs away until my anticipated expiration.

M.M.

P.S. Don't smoke, kids.🚬
