Safe

The rose soaked up the blood that oozed out of the wounds on the chest and stomach of the young woman. Her breathing was shallow as she struggled to take in a breath. Maybe I should've stayed away from him like everyone told me to. But god I love him. I just hope he knows that.
Six months ago
"Brook! Where have you been?" Charlotte, my current girlfriend, calls out to me.
"I've been here," I mock whisper as I continue reading my book.
"I've missed you my dear," she purrs when she reaches me. Her hands tangle in my hair and she pulls me in for a deep kiss. I kiss back slowly and whimper a little when she bites my lip hard.
"Next time tell me where you are. Got it?" Her voice becomes firm and I nod quickly.
If she doesn't get what she wants she can get... physical. The last time I didn't do what she wanted she gave me a black eye.
She tells me it wouldn't happen if I obeyed her. Maybe I should. I don't like it when she hits me.
"Time to go home baby," she smirks and I hide a shiver. I need to break up with her but she loves me and I don't want her to do anything bad. To be honest I'm terrified.
"I-I have to study," I whimper.
She frowns, "No. You are coming with me."
She grabs my arm roughly and I yelp in pain. A man stands up and comes over.
"Leave her alone," he growls in a low voice.
"Or what?" She snarls and tightens her grip which makes me whimper in pain.
The man suddenly pulls me gently away and hides me behind him.
"Don't touch her," he pulls me away from her and she stands there fuming. She watches me with narrowed eyes as I call out that it's over between me and her.
He takes me out to a large Ram pickup truck. It was huge. I stood there gaping at it and he chuckles softly.
I look back at him and say in a playful tone, " Ya know what they say about a guy with a big truck?" He raises an eyebrow and shakes his head no. "They are hiding a small part of them," I point down and bite my lip hoping he doesn't get mad at me trying to lighten the tension.
I was surprised to hear him roar with laughter. I look up with a shocked expression to see him wiping away tears from laughing so hard.
"Mon amour, you are a funny one," he has a slight French accent and I shiver at the sound. What the hell was wrong with me? I just met the man and just broke up with Charlotte and and and... gods I'm wet. What the hell Brooklynn?!
I blush hard at the thoughts that swirl through my head. I feel a warm, calloused hand slide across my cheek and I look up at the owner.
"You are so beautiful, Mon amour," his gaze is soft and loving as he looked into my blue green eyes.
I gasp softly to see the soft golden eyes. They looked like two pools of melted gold that I could get lost into. Then the said his name and my heart stopped.
